What are the main reasons pilots fail job interviews? Is it usually how they dress, canned answers, dishonesty, or what? What are usually deal makers in interviews too?

What are the main reasons pilots fail job interviews? Is it usually how they dress, canned answers, dishonesty, or what? What are usually deal makers in interviews too?

It can be a little of everything you wrote, however, many fail because they are not a fit for the company culture. Other people fail due to a lack of technical knowledge. (this occurs usually early in the career)

Some fail because they do not "think" like the hiring authority sitting across from them. Think as if YOU were hiring the person for the job; what would you want to hear from them? I am not talking about canned answers. You need to match your background to the employer and then sell your qualities/knowledge that fit their company culture, position requirements, etc.

When you participate in interviews, most employers are looking for a reason to eliminate you. From the moment you shake their hand, they are forming an opinion. Whatever that opinion is, they are going to spend the next 20 minutes to an hour justifying their opinion of you in their mind; good or bad.

Still other people fail because they have no idea how to effectively answer behavioral and situational interview questions.
