My wife has just lost her job which means my flight instructing days are over almost as soon as they started. I'm in the process of applying for all kinds of jobs but wanted to ask if anyone had any leads. I only have a touch over 500TT with like 110 of that being multi. I keep hearing from people much more experienced than me that there people being hired with that level of skill into right seat jobs in this area. I find it hard to believe but nevertheless I thought I would post the question just in case. Any ideas of any aviation related jobs in the area with a pilot slot being preferred. Let me disclaim again that I know I don't have the time I need to be competitive but since my wife lost her job it looks like I'll have to bail aviation entirely if I don't get something more substantial money wise than teaching.

If you are really serious about it then go knock on every door of every operator that you can get access to at every GA airport in the ATL area.

Working the line at one of the larger fbo's would keep your face in front of folks, as well as getting a schedule and benifits. I would also keep flight instructing part time. That will keep you current.

If you do this, work hard and give excellent customer service. I have hired off the line before just because I liked someones work ethic. Its also a great way to keep your thumb on the local pulse. You might hear of a new right seat spot in a King Air or something.

Just remember, dont sell out your fellow line guys. Make sure they are not having to cover your work while you network.

I think Raytheon and Hill are both looking for Line guys at FTY.

Best of Luck!

Try to get 100 hours this next month and apply at XJet. You will meet their mins and probably have a good shot with your multi time.

The State of Georgia was looking to hire a first officer. Go to their website or call the aviation office at FTY.

Also, you might try Ernie Elliott, Inc., up in Dawsonville. They may be looking for someone as I understand one of the pilots just left.

No offense but, I'd tell my wife to get a job, 2 if possible, because you'll be the bread winner in the long term.

Even though she doesn't have to, I make my wife work the corner on the weekends; just to keep me in the lifestyle I'm accustomed to! I mean, you gotta look out for number one or you might step in number two...

She pretty good at it, too. Well, mostly she is. At any rate, I gave her a pretty good tip and told her to spend it on herself, and not share it with your sorry a$$.;)

I was pissed about that. She spent the tip on you instead. Bought a whole box of extra small condoms....

No worries...hehe..

American Eagle and Contintenal Express will take you and the you can continue to work towards a corporate job as you build time.

Might make more as a flight instructor though. No doubt good experience, I just dont think it helps the financial delima.

Rumple,
Sorry about your dilema....It would seem that you need to crank up your instruction..if you are working for a FBO/School...the is always the Be a pilot program..I took the card I got from them went to the mall and handed them out in front of the mall....with my scjhool card stapled to it..I filled my schedule for a month solid doing intro flight and gained about 8 full time students and loads of patch flyers...saturday and sundays where long day but made some decent money...DONT GIVE UP JUST YET...TRY...And I hope you suceed

In your place I would do whatever I could to stay working around flight departments as well as get as much multi flight instructing as you can. The best way to do both is to take a line job at an airport that has a lot of good based departments that you will deal with, and a flightschool on the field. It sucks I know, but it all comes down to meeting the right people and you can't do that if you are not at the airport. I went this route, and it may have taken a little longer than I had hoped it did pay off and I have some qualifications I would have never dreamed of having. Pick the right airport and work your butt off, and if you do you will be noticed by the pilots in the departments. Most of them would hire a hard working low time guy that they knew, as long as they can insure them. If you don't give this time in your beginning career everything you possibly can you aren't going to make it, so prepare for some hard work. Good luck...

Banner towing, traffic patrol, go to Cartersville and apply at Phoenix Air, go to Kennesaw and apply at Flightworks, just walk around every airport in the ATL stuffing your resume into the mailboxes at corporate hangers.

ASA just lowered their mins....I think it is 600 and 100. Ask around and make sure that is correct. Might be worth a shot. I fly for them and love it. Not a bad place to work and it will keep you ATL.

They will have you typed if you qualify (I am to low time). Citation II and V is what they are flying. Need 1500 or more hours.
