i saw the movie on JFK jr last weekend

it was decent, except i wanted to hear JFK Sr say his quote that went something like; "we all came from the sea, and when we are going back to the sea from whence we came".

that's not the exact quote, but close.

it always screws me up when i hear that, in fact i'm bawling (crying) my head off right now

Interesting. Let me try it:

"we all came from the sea, and when we are going back to the sea from whence we came".

............nope. No effect. I wonder if I didn't come from the sea???

jfk jr. now there's a whole new thread. anyone else here feel like they could talk about him for hours? i wanna see that movie. did they have the crash?

I was an instructor at FlightSafety in VRB when he was down there. Parked next to him in the parking lot his first day there. I look at this guy in denim shorts, a white shirt open to mid-chest, and sandals. "G'morning," he says. I smiled and nodded, having absolutely no idea who it was...I found out later. (That was the highlight of my experience with celebrities...well, I did meet Minnie Pearl once. And I stood next to Willie Nelson at the ATL baggage claim.)

About five minutes later, some of us were standing around when John Jr. walked up and asked "can any of you tell me where Bungalo Five is?"

My friend Bob--who's at Eagle now--replied without looking up in his best "well-duh" voice "it's probably between Bungalo Four and Bungalo Six." John-John thanked him and walked off. I loved the look on Bob's face when I told him he'd just been an ass to Jack Kennedy's son! (FlightSafety was...is...very big about kissing the fannies of big-name clients.)

He wore the geeky uniform just like the rest of us. It was surreal to see a guy standing in the flight planning room with a nametag that said "JOHN KENNEDY."

Typhoon, I am surprised no one else has asked you. Was he a good pilot or was he a knucklehead with morre money than brains?

I have no idea. Didn't fly with him...my supervisor was his personal instructor, guy named Ryan Sieler. It's my understanding though that John Jr. was a pretty sharp, dedicated student. Things were going pretty well until that cousin or whatever got killed in that skiing accident, then John took a hiatus. By the time he got back to Vero Beach, I had already heard the call of the Brasilia and was gone.

I remember being hacked off at the media after he died. "What on earth could have caused this well-trained pilot to crash?"

And every pilot in the country is thinking: (1) a low-time private pilot, (2) with no instrument rating, (3) over water, (4) at night. Yeah, big mystery.

I flew the "JFK Cadet" the other day and had a horrible time with it. I think that it's cursed. Nice carpet though! ;)

The JFK cadet? Which one is that? His solo aircraft or sumptin?

92???

Maybe that "single bullet" is still out there sprialing around. Probably nicked a fuel line or something...
