I have an interview scheduled in April and was wondering if anyone can tell me if I would be put in the 190 (IF hired) or would I still have a shot at the 320.

Thank you.

Uh-oh. . . . .

I hear a faint rumbling on the horizon. . . .

I predict this thread will hit at least 30 posts fairly quickly. . .

Dunno. Maybe.

If you're hired, you'll be presented with a choice: take the 190 sooner (and incidentally make more money with a quick upgrade) or hold out for the 320 later. It's up to you, but if it were me, I'd take the money and the lower seniority number.

After 12 years as a captain on that E190, you can make $89 an hour. Just think, that will be the year 2017. You will be senior on it, though. You will know BUF like it is the back of your hairy hand. (No flaming here---just looking at the facts-----the current pay scales)

Taking it to the extreme, eh General? Consider this: there will be a 2 yr equipment lock no matter what airplane you end up on. Upgrade is more than two years on the 320 anyway. So you can stay in the right seat on the 320 for two years or you can fly right seat on the 190 for four months and left seat for 20. After that, you can do what you please, including upgrade on the 320 as seniority permits. Do the math. Even disregarding the fact that you'll likely lose seniority waiting for a 320 class, the 190 is a better deal, at least for a while.

The facts are---curent---is spelled current. General, of all the people on this board, you should know this by now. If you're going to rag on someone, at least spell correctly.

I agree with Blue Dude...If hired (and good luck, by the way) I'd go for the 190 and quick upgrade, then cross over to the 320 in two years or so.

And General, I'm disappointed in your post. You are normally much more logical than that...

I too think the 190 pay will increase a bit once on the line for a year or thereabouts and the aircraft proves itself.

general...gotta a question....was talking to a dal commuter and he said that guys on the line were worried about a ual type concessionary contract coming up in the next year or so...you heard any rumors regarding more concessions??

The "General" should be too busy "defending the profession" to be concerned with our little blue airline...

What a blow hard...
The DAL arrogance resurfaces....

Any body else tired of his constant and incessant "input"?
He acts like he's some industry expert....

what's your background "General"...
You been flying for the big DAL for 5-6 years???

Whoopee!!!!

me personally ..

15 year 121 airline background....
commuter
major freight
major passenger
and current jetblue...

and $89 /hr as a 12 year EMB captain....
well...
its called a "sustainable business plan"

everyone USE to rag on SWA...
but they seem to be taking care of their folks fine after 33 years...

MAN ALIVE, my response sure was battered. You guys sure are defensive. Well, here it goes.

Bluedude,

Did I say something wrong? Could someone fly as Captain on the E190 for 12 years? What did I say wrong there? Will it not be 2017 in 12 years? What will the current pay scale equal in 12 years? $89 a hour. Did I make fun of that? You seem to think so. Defensive to say the least. It makes me think you are the one who is highly embarrassed with that rate. Did I say anything about a 12 year seat lock? Calm down chief.

NTS,

I probably have many spelling mistakes, and I don't claim to be perfect. You, on the other hand, seem a tad bit anal retentive. Make sure you don't make any mistakes now, ya hear?

Eagleflip,

Again, what did you NOT like about my post? Disappointed? Why? What did I say that was inaccurate? You are the one, along with the others, that assumed I meant something. Can a Jetblue newhire stay on the E190 if he/she likes it? Can they be there until 2017? Do you know what the pay rates will be then? Right now we only know the current ones. Please respond.

wndshr,

Haven't heard of any more, and the last one will last for 5 years. Could they ask for more? Sure. I think they may go after the pensions, but that would cause even more people to bail out. We gave them a billion a year for 5 years, which is pretty good. They would probably go to the non-contract people next if they needed more---easier to take than negotiate.

8vATE,

What? You are ridiculous. You came up with all that ranting (like a baby) after reading my little post that was totally accurate? What did I say that was wrong? You sound drunk. Maybe you need to be sedated a little more. A thorozine drip is in your future for sure.

What is my "backround?" Well, I flew for a commuter out of MDW back in the early to mid-90's, and then got hired on with the big DL. I have been at DL for 9 years, and enjoy it a lot.

So, your $89 an hour is your sustainable airline plan. Hmmmmm. Well, I think your airline would do a lot better if you all flew for $20 an hour! Yeah, that's the ticket. Who cares if you have worked for 15 years flying freight and passengers? Your expereince shouldn't count, right boss? You should only care about your business plan and whether or not your managers get an extra Hummer H2.

You know what we did at Delta? We raised the bar so high and kept it there for 3 years----which was great under the circumstances. That is admirable. You should thank us. Yeah, we had to bring it down because we were faced with Chap 11---and our advisors told us that. But, we put the bar up there, and you and your $89 an hour 100 seat rate lowered it big time. Don't berate us---you should be trying to change that. And then, to top it off, some of your guys want to change all of the rules, and fly turns between JFK and LGB. What other rules do you want to change 8vATE? Do youwant to marry your sister too? You do? Can't find a date, huh?

So, please put me on your ignore list-----it really won't bother me. Really, it won't.

General...you are pathetic. You need to turn in your medical. I'm looking forward to 4000 more of your pompous posts. What a tool.

Ib6 Ub9,

Talk about pathetic. You can't rebutt anyting I say. Keep guzzling that blue kool-aid and enjoy. Nothing I posted was inaccurate----and you know it. Place me on your ignore list too. And, I will post more---I paid for the right. Bye bye......."What a tool....." Great one chief!

Guys, lighten up. The "General" stated a fact of today, Feb. 1, 2005. Remember when we started, our pay in the 320 wasn't all that great, but after a year and a half, we got a pretty big pay bump, right after 9/11. The 190 isn't even on the property yet. When it gets here and has operated for a while, a year maybe two, see where the pay is at. Then let the comments flow. As to getting hired, get the seniority number and your foot in the door. This company is known for the unexpected and if you're here, the payoff could be pretty good.

Let's hope "Phil" doesn't see his shadow tommorrow, I've had enough of winter in BOS and PIT.

There you go, at least one JB guy sees that I didn't post anything inaccurate. And as for flaming, my original post had none of that----some of you just became "ultra defensive."

Have a great day dudes.

320 vs 190

which one will have the cabin that is the easiest to clean? I hear the seat back pockets on the 190 are tight so you may have to dig for those diapers.

"Spot on"

Hey General

I thought your post was spot on as usual.
