While we're on this subject, at the hotel, the current class has a little welcome party for the new pilots starting, then they in turn have a little party for the next class, and so on. Recently, at the last 2 welcome parties, 2 pilot applicants showed up just to try to meet some of the VIPs or others that may be able to help them get an interview.

While I understand their intent to show interest in the company, this practice does not go over very well with management or the people department.

I've been told that this actually reduces the chances of getting an interview.

If anyone knows anybody out there that is considering this, I suggest you tell them to reconsider. In the company's mind, this is a time to get to know their new hire pilots and spouses, not a recruitment time.

JB attends the job fairs just for that reason, to meet people eye to eye.

Again, these are not my thoughts, but rather info that was passed along to me from someone in a higher position than me. I'm passing it along, so it may help the next person.
