Just curious if some of you guys that have JetBlue interviews on Sept 10th could post your qualifications?
So that some of us can gauge whether we are competitive or not.
For all of us hopefuls.

Thanks.

I have 8000 hours

3500 in 727...1200 left seat

approx 5500 hours right seat (727,737,A320,F100,E120)

Can't get an interview.....must not be competitive.

But I'm still tryin'...

Second Chances

I was extremely fortunate to be granted an interview with jetBlue on Sept. 10th. After watching David Neeleman on C-Span over the weekend, it only confirmed my desires to work for this awesome company and the culture that it fosters. This company has it right. It is night & day from the major that I'm furloughed from. Here are my qualifications.

Total Hours: 6,000
PIC: 3,300
All in heavy aircraft, most of it in the military in the C-135 airframe.
B.S. & M.A. in Management
Age: 45
I know a few people that fly for jetBlue.
Submitted application in Mar 02.

Good luck to all!

CrjDude,

Now that you have an interview, the competative edge (hourly experience) does not matter. The "competative" hours are what determines who gets interviews, not who passes them and goes to Phase II. In other words, the playing field is now level going into Phase I.

In all but a few cases, applicants that pass Phase I and have no major flaws in their background check (unreported violations, DWI's, etc) are almost always offered a position. We really don't have hiring quota's or limits.

If you were trying to feel the competition out to see where you stand, that's your choice. But, it's all up to your personality now, not how many hours your peers have.

Good Luck!

I'm just guessing, but I'll bet the column they look at first on the online app. is "Multi Engine Jet PIC". Then total PIC and the overall amount of heavy time. I think they are looking for captains, or people who were fairly recently captains. Thus C135 Backer with 6000 TT and 3000 PIC heavy time gets the call, while RU hiring and other guys like him and me with tons of total time and heavy time but relatively little PIC time don't get the call. In my case, my 70 hours of 737 F/O time every month are probably not doing anything to enhance my chances of an interview.

But at least you are still flying.... Hey, flying an EMB-190 for Jetblue in a few years still wouldn't be a bad thing - if you had to wait for it...

That's funny... I thought you wanted to work for Coca-Cola.

hello jetblue320,

I don't actually have an interview yet. just wanted to kind of get a feel for the credentials of the folks jetblue was calling in. Just trying to see where I fit into the grand scheme of things I guess.

Still got my fingers crossed of someday getting the call, or should I say the email.

Anyone else care to post their times, education, etc......

OK, I gotcha. I misunderstood you.

Good luck and I hope you get the E.

See ya

Hours don't always signify who will get a call for an interview. I am on furlough from TWA/American. Below are my credentials;

9000 total time
2000 F/E
3530 PIC
1200 PIC on large jets
Typed on B737 B727 B767 B757 DC9
I have flown Captain on the B727 the MD80 and the B717

I have 14 years of experience at TWA and American and I am 36 years old. I have been on file with Jet Blue since March of 2003. A Flight Attandent supervisor and a Pilot have put in LOR's for me.
Have not heard a word from Blue. Several of my friends from TWA who have far less time and credentails than I have have been interviewed and hired. Does it make me angry? Not really. They will be trying to balance where they get there pilots from and what their experience is. I am sure they consider things that don't even occur to me or you. HR departments know that if you haven't figured out how to fly by the time you have 3 of 4 thousand hours and extra 5 or 6 is not going to help.

I submitted an app for JB in Jan 01. I was 12454 on the list. I have had several friends get the call and I am still waiting although not on pins and needles as I am now in the pool at SWA. I have 7200 hrs and I am typed in the B720, B707, B757, B767, and B737, I have 4500 PIC and 2500 hours instructor time. All military. So who knows what the criteria was. Oh....I am also 52 yrs old. Which they can figure out with my solo date of 1972.

I was just notified of a 9/10 interview date. My credentials are as follows:

6800 tt
3900 pic
1800 pic turbine
3600 hrs in a/c > 20,000
3 types
on file since 7/02

I really didn't think I'd get the nod for an interview until I added a few hundred hours of pic/jet. (to bring my total over 7000 hours and pic-turbine over 2000.) I was happily surprised when I checked my email the other day!

Best of luck to everyone.

Great replies guys!!!!

Anyone know what kind of credentials JetBlue is looking for with corporate guys? I know they try to keep their pilot group diversified.

Total time?
Multi?
Type ratings?
etc.....

Really appreciate everyone who has responded.
Thanks.

Hey Everybody,

After 2 years of updating monthly and running to check the emails at the end of every trip I finally got the call.

Original app: 8/10/01
TT: 5900
Total PIC: 4700
Turb PIC: 3250
PIC over 20K: 2700
Last 24 Months: 1770
Types: D-328Jet, Be-1900D, CE-500
Internal LORs: 1 (maybe)

See my reply in "Hey jetBlue Folks" (aviation interviews>majors) for more info.

Is there a thread for jetBlue interview info?

Here's hoping we can all get "Blue"!

I'm glad to see guys who applied way back in '01 getting the call over someone who applied in '03.
