An internal rec. letter never hurts but it is not an absolute requirement. I would guess, from being here a few years, that the majority of folks here were hired on their own merits in the application, interview, and background checks. Make sure your application and everything else is squared away, and your chances for getting hired will be equal to if not better than most.

Thanks for the info. I applied 6 months ago and just updated with the new online process. I am keeping my fingers crossed, but I had heard most interviewees had internal recs to get in. :)
