Uppercrust,
Sounds like you speak from experience. I understand the gay cowboys down there love you.

You're their little "piloto gringo".

I worked for AirTran for 2 years 8 months. I truly believe that if I had to make the decision between JebBlue and Airtran today, I'd pick AirTran. AirTran is not the media darling but their #'s speak for themselves. They have already developed the short haul markets and are working on their laung haul expansion. The 2 fleet types AirTran has have proven themselves for years and their costs are in control and getting better everyday without the lowering of payrates for the front line employees. I think AirTran is going to continue to be a quiet success story and a very formidable competitor in the next few years. When I say quiet, I mean operating below the media's radar as they have done for a few years. I left some great friends there that I look forward to seeing prosper in the upcomming years as they move up the list and into the left seats.

Jetblue is not going anywhere either. They really have had no place to go but down lately as fuel prices and the costly introduction of a new fleet type have taken a bite out of earnings. I'm not doom and gloom at all on Jetblue except to say that an airline that posted loftly profits for several years is just going to have it's down quarter from time to time and that is what we have seen Q4 of '05. Great culture etc. at Jetblue but I wanted to give you an insider's view of AirTran, an airline often overlooked by the media but a great place to hang your hat.

Brancatelli File

BRANCATELLI FILE: BUSINESS TRAVEL NEWS--AND LOTS OF IT
It's a busy week on the road, so no fooling around. Here are some thoughts on JetBlue's dive into the red; the cost of labor at Southwest and the Big Six; the big merger of Fairmont and Raffles hotels; and the concept of requiring I.D. on planes. It all here when you surf on over to http://joe.biztravelife.com/joe.html
Anyone have access to the whole story?

Never been down there. Sounds like you have.

Oh Yeah, well I'm rubber and you're glue!!

A bad year and everyone says, "go Airtran".

I admit, it would be easy to be negative now about JetBlue.

I am trying to look long term, and I think B6 is going to look very pretty.

Flying for both airlines, I would pick JB any day. I do believe AT has a good product and will be around- Im just speaking for the culture and people.

I can't claim to have worked for both, but all things being equal, I'd choose AirTran.

Personally, the fact it's a union job is important to me. The B-fund and no RJ pay is another big plus.

XBOEINGDRVR is absolutely correct in that our corporate culture blows.
