Just heard from a friend at JetBlue that furloughs are being looked at for a potential reduction until they get their losses straightened out.
 
I read that article the other day but I don't agree that its saying the end is near for JB. They have problems with revenue but I wouldn't say its terminal. Delta and Northwest are the ones that should be on the titanic list.
 
Okay, I'll bite.

First of all, JB is a major airline, not a regional. Second of all, and forgive me if I sound condescending (because I am being condescending), but you may want to go back and re-read the article while focusing on reading comprehension. Nowhere did it say the end is near (and it's old news BTW).

No, I'm not a Kool-Aid drinker (check out my 'handle'). I usually find the more outlandish JB bashing amusing and do not feel compelled to respond/defend like some others with thin blue skin. However, If you're going to post unintelligent/uninformed/unimportant drivel, at least try to make it amusing (like Dave Siegel).
 
Furloughs won't help, will they? Doesn't the "no furlough" clause guarantee five year's salary if furloughed?
 
On the bright side, the reduction of Delta's Song Unit is in the neighborhood of 6-7% capicity with the addition of first class seats. The replacement of the 199-seat jet with the 150-seat 737s alone would be about a 25% reduction in capacity on overlapping routes. We jumped off this year with projecting a loss based on fuel averaging $1.98/gal.. it has been much lower than that so far... Everything's going to be just fine... BTW JPMorgan has never been on the side of JBLU since they launched our IPO, don't ask me why!
 
I think the bigger problem is believing anything written in that rag sheet. There's a reason they give it away free at all the hotels. My advice, keep the sports page, and save the rest for the birdcage.

Those reductions are temporary,(seasonal) and you guys are putting E190s on some of the same routes we are throwing MD88s during the Summer, like BOS to PBI and RSW. There will be some reductions overall, but that is because we are throwing domestic 767ERs onto more lucrative European routes for the Summer, and those ex Song 757s will fly those old 767ER routes---mainly to the West Coast. That is a good way to use aircraft, instead of only putting a 199 seat 757 on routes that can only fill 100-120 seats. Your E190s will do the same.

JetBlew is almost done? Say it isn't so! Well there is the "Red" version in the wings. New group of people at the introductory wages and no pay for airplanes and maintenance. Just change the name every few years and hire the old people at new wages. Wonderful plan.

At least 121.5 will be a lot quiter when they are gone.

Does anyone know if the JetBlew jet that landed at McGuire was it low on fuel also? So is there truth to the rumor the feds. were hot and bothered over the min. fuel landings that were occuring awhile back?

Get a sled driver to the PR room immediately.

I always read the posts that these idiots post and I always try to refrain but sometimes a true fool comes along and I just can't resist..

Lets get this straight this self absorbed 32lt10 loves to bash jb yet if i am not mistaken hasn't nearly every airline out there had accidents both fatal and non fatal and numerous incidents over the years? OOOH thats right we are humans and humans are not perfect.. Okay i see how it is.. Jb has had a few minor incidents just like any company but 32lt10 needs some motivation for his masterbatory behavior??

What is most amusing is that JB's pilot group consists of pilots from nearly every major airline, freight, corporate, military just like every other company out there..

Oh well I guess I will have to wait for Virgin America so 32lt10 can get his panties all wet over them instead..

-we fire guys at 5 yrs
-all we do as pilots is clean the cabin
-we're ruining the industry (only us, mind you, for whatever reason the other LCCs get a pass)
-we don't pay for airplanes
-we won't be around in 6 mos, 6 hours, 6 minutes--I've lost track of the doom/gloom forecast

Blah, blah, blah--so anyway, spring training is here, anyone got any picks for baseball season?

Oh yeah dont forget the layoffs happening right now even though they have over 100 new hires in training right now and nearly another 100 that are either on ioe or waiting for an ioe line..

Plus dont forget to add the 300 room jet blue lodge that they are getting ready to break ground on next to the training center to house the training pilots

Did I forget to mention the 4 more sims they have coming in that will be housed in the 30,000 sq foot expansion to the training center?
 
Exactly. I'm sure if this thread runs long enough, JB will also be blamed for:

-Spread of communism in the 20th century
-Deregulation
-maybe someone will come along and say Neeleman or Barger made a pass at their mom, too.

Back to the subject at hand, I think the Braves FINALLY have a shot this year.

This is the last time I will read the worthless crap this guy posts. He obviously has a hard on for JetBlue, probably jealous of their success. BTW, how are YOUR options doing? Welcome to the first person I have ignored on this forum. AMF.....
 
I wouldn't leave my current job for JetBlue but I did spot something in the article that impressed me.

"Executives are working to adjust thinking throughout the company so that high fuel prices are viewed as permanent. As COO Barger says: "Let's learn to work" with higher jet fuel prices."

It's nice to see that someone is embracing reality rather than clinging to foolish hopes. Expensive fuel is here to stay.

I think JetBlue has a great product and the principles upon which it was built and run is truly unique. They care about their EMPLOYEES and PASSENGERS. I think they will be around for a long time and can't wait to be a part of their team!

It is simply amazing to me that, when faced with the reality of their company's future, your fellow employees simply deny that reality.

Maybe 9 years and 11 months is simply too optimistic, but, my good friend, Frank Lorenzo has accused me of being entirely too positive.

It turns out that other industry analysts are taking a more cautious view of Jet Blue's future given their recent struggles. Frank thinks it's just the tip of the iceberg, and that Jet Blue will be exposed as an inferior company with an inferior product.

I personally think that Jet Blue is overextending themselves, and that their management team should stop believing the hype, and start getting down to the business of actually managing an airline, and planning for long term success.

The only true business model that could work involves a rapid wage restructuring, specifically the elimination of the Airbus pay rates. With all pilots operating under the EMB 190 pay rates, Jet Blue may be able to survive for another 9 years, 11 months.

I've read some funny stuff here, but that takes the cake. The Braves always have a shot, and they always find a way to choke it away. It's "The Curse of Jane Fonda."

That's actually funny. Why is B6 hiring so many as we speak if they are thinking about furloughing. If you read the article Neeleman states that they will still grow at a rate of 25% to 30% per year, through the decade. And as Radarlove said, if they furlough you they have to pay you reserve salary for the duration of the contract...Up to five years..There is absolutely no reason to furlough, unlike other airlines!
