I am sorry we Delta pilots didn't do MORE to gain an extra crew member (5 instead of 4) for all flights over 16 hours. Good luck with all of your future over 16 hour nonstop flights, and I hope you guys don't say "Those darn Delta guys, they really ruined it for us. Now we only get 2 Captains and 2 FOs for our A320 flights around the world nonstop! Hey, by the way, where is that jetstream anyway??"

Hey, we tried to get 5 pilots, but the FAA was asked by Delta to take a look, and they decided we could go 17 hours now nonstop with only 4 pilots, as long as there is adequate rest facilities. (our 777s have an upper deck above first class with 2 sleeper bunks and 2 first class chairs with personal TVs)

Sorry again guys!

Bye Bye--General Lee

Your are a D___ ,hope you know how to spell

I think that post was actually written by the monkey in general's avatar.

That's a start, General, but when are you Delta boys going to apologize for starting this whole trend back in the sixties when you agreed to fly the DC-9 with a two-pilot crew for more money over the safety objections of ALPA? :p

The Western guys flew 737-200s with 3 pilots, with the guy in the jumpseat called the GIB (Guy in back). He did the walk arounds and maybe the PAs. Eventually ALPA gave up on that too. The 767-200s had an FE for awhile too. Darn ALPA!

Funny, I was talking to a DAL 777 guy the other day. He was talking about the new service to India. I said, "atleast you can watch tv and play tetris or golf up there." He said "nope, they took it out for weight savings."

Granted, it's nice up there. I was fortunate enough to ride up there once. But no TV/video games in a windowless room would suck.

General,

I'll bet you eat a lot of meals by yourself on layovers.
:puke:
SB

You're right, I quickly run to my room, get into my tuxedo, run to the local pizza joint, and then run back to my room, where I sing Kereoke by myself to 20's showtunes. Sounds like a typical layover to me.....

I just saw them a month ago going to FRA.

It sounds like you are lonely and in need of attention--any type of attention. So you come here, FI, your "home" and do the equivelent of beating your spouse. Lets slow things down--way down--and start digging into whats really your problem.

Have an extra glass of "moron juice" this evening General???? You're really outdoing yourself on this one.

Oh come on, I am joking here. The transcon turn deal would affect a lot more people, more airlines, and be a lot more dangerous because of no chance to actually try to get some sleep. (not while in the cockpit) Flights over 16 hours are very rare, with 2 being done by Singapore Airlines, 1 by Thai, and 2 by Delta (BOM-JFK and soon to be DXB-ATL). Those are the only ones that I am aware of that are scheduled over 16 hours, yet many JB guys give me a hard time, with something that they will probably never have to deal with. Heck, most DL pilots will never get to that stage either, we only have 8 777s and not many pilots on them. Lighten up Francis...

Not if you are trying to sleep!

Awe come on guys, let's give the General a break... I mean, do you remember the quarters given to that Voyager crew that flew around the world? Where did they go poopoo? I'd say let Delta lead the charge on extra long crew days for American pilots. Someone has to, in this case, it won't be Jetblue...

I am amazed at my own gullibility: By the title of this thread I actually thought Jen Lee was going to acknowledge his own hypocrisy and arrogance for once.

Silly me...

This is almost as good as when the NWA CEO lambasted jetblue for giving out passenger information and how NWA would never do such a thing, of course, he sang a different tune once he was informed the NWA had done the very same!

Doh!

Hey, almost 95% of Delta pilots won't see a 16 hour leg, since we only have 8 777s and only 2 possible legs (BOM-JFK, and DXB--ATL) that would do it. I guess that means ATL--Narita will be junior, at only 14:28 westbound!

Again, sorry for screwing up all flights over 16 hours. Don't be too mad at us!

Gotcha!

At CX, our JFK-HKG is scheduled for more than 16 I believe. Crewed with one CA, two FO's, and as SO.

Jenn Lee,

I'm sure you know this, but I'll spell it out anyway. None of us gives 2 squirts about Delta's new rules. We are just enjoying pointing out how much of a hypocrite you are.

Oh yeah....

JetBlue conducted a study, Delta changed the rules.

You started practicing how to say the word "Cactus" on the radio yet?

General- As a pilot, are you required to clean the cabin after you land, or does your company have dedicated cabin cleaners?

General: I'm on your side more than you know, but that's not a fair characterization of the "third pilot" fight. One airline's MEC went to trusteeship and another went out of business over it. ALPA wanted DAL on board, your airplane reqd 3, the 737 only 2...DALALPA said they were too special to get their hands dirty.

You folks could help things out now by actvating your strike committee. Send your own message to DP, try something new maybe. (your turn to strike) I hear UAL is going to activate theirs in advance of any merger speculation and to get prepared for negotiating in 24 months.

He got me as well, what a chump. It's funny how it's alright because they ONLY do it on 2 flights.

10% of your seniority list...

It is Generally known that 10% of an airline's seniority lists are a bunch of jack holes (legacy, LCC, cargo, regional). Seems like 90% of the jack holes are regulars on flight info.

It doesn't make a difference if .01% or 50% of the pilots fly it. It also doesn't matter that that there are only a handful of flights around the world that fall into that ultra-long category. What DOES matter is that it shows the FAA and the airlines is that the pilots are willing to bend on safety issues. True Blue, rah rah, JB pilots who are against transcon turns could also use your logic in defending their company by saying that only a handful of city pairs would be affected. The fact (since you like facts so much) is that the camel's nose is now easily under the tent. Just as some pilots at the regionals will do anything to fly a CRJ in the name of expansion, Delta pilots appear to be willing to do the same.

I'm not calling you a hypocrite, I'm just saying you're wrong. If Delta pilots were aware this rule change was being considered, they were sure inconspicuous about voicing any objections (outside their own message boards).

WhOOO....DC 9's can't be flown safely with two pilots? As usual...I'm behind in current events!

darn it...

...excuse me while I rebook some flights......
