Do any of you JetBlue guys know what the minimum hiring requirements will be for the new ERJ 190?

Will every new-hire go to the 190 first (and subsequently the minimums stay as they are) or will it be based on the need of the airline?

And what about pay? Big difference between the 320 and the 190?

Comments anyone?

Wish I could tell you, but as of right now, not sure anyone knows.

Oh, btw, it is not an ERJ, it is the EMB-190. If you have seen it, it readily becomes apparent, that it is a big step up from RJ's in terms of comfort. Standup cabin, tow by two seating etc...From the people who have flown in it, it's very comfortable.

The ERJ

It actually is an ERJ. Thats what is on my certificate, ERJ-170.

It will be a common type rating. One size fits all. The 170,175,190, and 195.

I have seen JetBlue's FTD's under construction at CAE in Montreal!

IF they can still call it an RJ it probably helps the airlines keep the crew costs down. But it is good to see an airline that treats their employees well like JBLUE order a bunch of them. Hopefully they will set a good standard.

From what I have heard from mgmt. the minimums will be no different than what they currently are. They still want experienced people as the upgrade time on the 190 will be so fast if you arent hired as a Capt.

This very subject has been addressed many times before on this forum but to summarize for you;

nothing in regards to pay or hiring minimums has been officially established but our uppers have given some insight....the pay will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 70-75% of what the A320 pays and as far as I know, the hiring minimums are the same. Those are listed on our website. The new hire pilot will probably go to the EMB190 if he wants to unless a vacancy exists on the A320. I am sure it will be seniority based per class/hire date. Remember, this airplane is not replacing the A320 and our hiring on the A320 will be about the same as it is now (20-25 or more per month) for quite some time. This much I will say....whatever the deal is for the EMB190, it will be fair and above board, just like everything else.

The first delivery is still 17 months away but some official stuff should be surfacing soon. Stay tuned.

Have you guys heard anything about the rumor that once your on a particular airplane you cannot move between the two? IE If I am lucky enough to be hired on the E190, Will I be able to transition to the A320 in a reasonable amount of time? Based on seniority of course. The reason I ask is because if they arent going to allow transitions between the airplanes, it would severly limit a pilots career path. I am sure there will be some kind of seat/equipment lock, thats okay as long as its not like 10 years or something

PLEASE HIRE ME!!! I got loads of Embraer experience.

It was originally announced that there would only be a one-time move to a new plane, in order to reduce training costs. That was not well thought-out and was shot down pretty fast. Now the word is there will be a two-year equipment lock, except for upgrading pilots, who can bid whatever they can hold at any time.

There is supposedly a seat lock of two years. Once again, not official but it does sound about right.

Thats cool, I think thats about the industry standard as well. Same deal as it is at my current airline, well, when we had more than one type anyway.
