I don't think a SWA/JB combination would make any sense. Especially since SWA has spent a mint on ISP, just east of JFK. DL would make more sense since they want to build up JFK, and Jetblue Airbus and EMBs would bring in more feed than the current Comair RJs.

WN has NO plans on buying anyone, much less JB. That's what WN CFO Laura Wright told me two days ago when I asked.

I don't really consider ISP to be a New York City airport, and I don't think our passengers do, either. Long Island has a huge population base all its own, and ISP is easier than delay-prone JFK and LGA for domestic travel.

But, yeah, I don't think SWA would want JB at all... aircraft types alone are a huge reason.

don't think you read the article right..

If you read this article closely,
I think what the writer is saying is WN is a potential "LBO" candidate..

As in ..

Leveraged Buy Out...

Going private....

There are lots of rumors floating around..
Same for JetBlue, Northwest... etc..

Getting investors and going private..

Just another strategy for big investors, lawyers, bankers and CEOs trying to work the system and make money.

Buyout... expand.... chop up... merge..... etc...

What's a "GO"?

Ground Operations?

GO = Genral Office...I believe

At the BWI Message to the Field that is basically what Gary Kelly said. He said that ISP's market was Long Island, not New York City, and that SWA needed to find a way to get into the New York City market.

Think they would make a run on SWF?
It's out in the cow pastures but for the right fare... maybe the masses will come?

Seems like everywhere else is too maxxed out...
