Indeed JB is on the right track. However two things were not mentioned in that article(not related to JB). They claim that low cost stem from non-union works. Southwest has the highest percentage of union workers (almost 80%) in the industry and yet they remain the most profitable large jet major airline. Also one thing about airbuses, eventually they will break so the mx will start to add up someday.

My buddys kid is graduating from UND with about 500 hours. Supposedly got to like fly a king Air home for the weekend to get his night cross country in and all. We'll my buddy said Jet Blue was talking to him about getting a job with them right out school. How realistic is this? My buddy told me that Jet Blue wasn't interested in experienced pilots and just out of school grads with good grades was the best for them.

And I'm not kidding...this is what I heard today from the father of a just about to graduate UND guy.

I'll believe it when I see it. Until then, it's just a rumor. Does your buddy work for 'Blue, or did he get this info from his kid?

UND doesn't have any info on any program with 'Blue posted on their website, let alone a pilot position. Of course, they claim that "Trans World Airlines in St. Louis, MO" is a 'participating employer' in their co-op/intern program too.

If they're not intersted in experienced pilots, but only want those with no large jet experience, you'd think they'd at least drop their 28K weight restriction. I know allot of 1900 drivers would appreciate it.

I won't argue with that boo. It was just somthing the guy was telling me today. He pretty much told me that jet blue contacted his kid and he's just getting ready to graduate from UND now. I didn't believe it and it's hard to tell a friend he's full of crap or the people talking to his kid are full of crap.

Obviously some serious miscommunication going on here! Of course we want the most inexperienced pilots we can find to fly our free airplanes, fueled with free gas, and maintained for free by Airbus. We'll put them into the free training in Miami ASAP.

First, look at the pilot hiring minimums. I won't repost them here because they have been posted many times. Second, we are pulling about 70 of the most qualifed people from a variety of backgrounds from a pool of 6,000 apps every two months.

I don't know what this person thought they heard, but we are not hiring kids right out of school. I can't even imagine doing that when we start hiring for the EMB-190. There are simply too many more qualified people to choose from.

low time pilots tend to exagerate potential jobs, I have found. It could mean that they are interested in hiring him for a gate agent, or flight attendant.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I know a guy that was hired at Jetblue a couple months ago. He had 15,000+ hours, a 737 type, 5000 hrs in the Bus and was a F4 pilot in the Navy (I think it was the Navy). The sad thing is, this guy is low time these days! -Bean
