Knuckleheads? Gather some facts before you post.

And that was a BEAUTIFUL landing. Crew greased it on with nose gear turned sideways.

Huh? The nose gear has nothing to do with a normal touchdown, which is on the main gear. Would have been a lot better to touchdown in the touchdown zone instead of 4000' down the runway, in the event braking problems.

Nevertheless, the Captain did a nice job of lowering the nose gear to the runway, maintaining directional control, and minimizing damage to the aircraft.

Notice they came to a stop right on the centerline. Touchdown was just left of centerline but he knew he would drift and he compensated for it like a pro!

You're absolutely right - Those two pilots should be bronzed and enshrined at
LAX.

Here's the dumbest quote from FoxNews.com article:

"The pilot finally brought the plane down, back wheels first. As he slowly lowered the nose gear, the stuck wheels erupted in smoke and flames, which quickly burned out." (emphasis added)

Have some of you pilots been landing nose-gear first?
