For anyone currently working at Jet Blue, I need you to settle a bet for me. I thought 1st year fo pay was about 60k or so, captain upgrade was in about 1 1/2 to 2 years. Someone told me I was way off and an airline like "that" (whatever that means) couldn't pay as well as I thought. Will someone give me some ammunition ( f.o pay, captain pay, upgrade, quality of life, etc) so I can settle this. Thanks.

Johno,

Well, this has been covered on this site a few times I think. Just do a search if this doesn't answer all your questions.

F/O 1st year $50.96
Capt " $110.00

That's up to 70 hours. Anything over 70 hours is paid at time and a half.

Upgrades now are about 12-14 months. It was a little quicker, but we've slowed the number of monthly upgrades slightly.

Quality of life is rather subjective. Depends on if you commute or not (I do) and have about 16 days off each month. I've been here 11 months and bid about #40 in base.

Not sure what you bet, but it sounds like you just won.

Happy landings

Is FLL a very senior base?
Any estimate of how long to hold F/O in FLL?
How do you think "Song" will affect JetBlue? Aircraft deliveries and upgrade time will be affected?
Thanks

FLL is a junior base for F/Os, very senior for CAPTs. It goes junior for F/Os typically because when they upgrade they can't hold a line at FLL. As for Song, our president of operations wrote us all an e-mail yesterday and re-affirmed the fact that we're going to continue doing business like we've done the past 3 years. We started with quite a few competitors out there, and they're always going to be there. As for the new technology, none of Song's planes will have any type of in-seat entertainment until at least October, thats 7 months after they start flying... I don't think disenfranchising your passengers on the hopes of this new technology being in their planes is good for business. JetBlue started flying with our TVs installed and ready to go. By the way, you'll also be happy to know that N558JB just arrived from France with a new tail scheme (Polka Dots) and the name "Song Sung Blue!"-- we've also got one named Bada Bing Bada Blue just for you too!
