I fillled out the Jet Blue application and noticed that I also need to take the pilot assessment . I have not yet opened it and was wondering if anyone has any info on what this is? Thanks.

It's a lot of the standard questions like, any felonies? etc. It also asks what range some of your hours fall into. For example, Turbine PIC: 500-1000, 1001-2000, 2000-5000? Nothing shocking for sure.

I filled that out, at the time did not have an FCC license, and when I finished the 25 questions it said I was not competitive. Got the FCC license but I cannot figure out how to update that part of the application. E-mailed their help line with no response. Any ideas? I am assuming that is why I am not competive, 3000 TT 1800 PIC jet?

Where was the pilot assessment? I did the drop down menu's for flight times but I never saw one for the FCC license? I log in to the site, click view profile, then edit profile and the drop downs appear but there are only about 10 of them that I see. But then again I never got any of those numbers sent to me either like other people posted. Any help would be appreciated.

Just did some updating on mine and I didn't find 25 questions unless the 'skills and comptency' section was it. When I hit the continue button on the second page, it just sent me back to the start....?

No, it is not the FCC license that is shorting you, it's the 3000TT. It is a long way from competative, sorry. Not trying to bust your bubble.

ViperPilot, you don't have to so I will.

JB.....come on buddy, that's not fair. 3000 hrs for a heavy guy or airline guy may not be competitive, but it is for a fighter....For a fighter pilot to get 3000 hrs, that takes, on average, about 15 yrs.

If you're saying that everyone needs to have around 6-8K hrs to be competitve, then NO fighter pilots will ever again be hired at JB. Now I know that would be perfect for a lot of guys, but that's not realistic.

I was hired less than a yr ago and had 2200 hrs (2800 with the conversion), so don't tell this guy he's not competitive because one, that's not true and two, it's unfair to someone who's reading this site and might make the mistake of actually believing you.

Sorry, like VP, I have no intention of hijacking this thread, but in defense of the fighter guys, and more importantly, people who are reading this site in hopes to one day apply to JB or other airlines, I don't want misinformation to be used as the basis for life decisons........

I've helped some corporate types get in with less than 5k as well...guys on their second careers who found flying later in life.

I've also seen the arrogant 15,000 hour get bounced out the door and not move to phase II.

Repeat after me...Jetblue hired people first, pilots second... Yes...those PEOPLE are all good pilots, but being a good pilot doesn't mean the boys in NYC want you on their team.

Silly? Maybe. However...everyone I know there is pretty darn happy so what they are doing must be working.

If I wanted to work at JB, I'd apply regardless of my flight time and update update update. There is probably a guy or gal on the property already with a history remarkably similar to yours...

FYI...I got the call in 2001 with about 3300 total time, 850 SEL, the rest multi jet/turboprop, and about 2200 PIC turbine. At the time, JB required 3000 TT. A few months later they dropped it to 1500, but kept the PIC turbine > 20k requirement...and a bunch of fighter guys then qualified (Aug 2001 ish...)

I had no intention of hurting the man's feelings, I was just trying to be realistic. I am former military myself and I realize that 3000 hours is a lot for a fighter guy. And yes, we have quite a few guys at JB with that amount or less. My point was that in these current times there are a helluva lot of guys with applications in that are in the 10K-12K + range with heavy transport category civilian time. JB does employ a ratio system when deciding who gets interviews so if you consider that, Viper has as good as chance as anybody, regardless of their hours.

Sorry Viper and Archie, didn't mean to ruffle your feathers, not my style.

DAL737FO and ATR-Driver,

To get to the pilot assessment you have to apply for the FO job. When I did my app, it gave me a list of jobs that I was conceptually qualified for at JetBlue, I clicked on the FO job and applied, that's when the pilot assesment came up.

I didn't have a current Class 1 when I completed the assessment, but never could figure a way back into the pilot assessment.

And like Albie said "UPDATE, UPDATE, UPDATE"

Hopefully some help.

I went back and looked at it again. It says I have applied for the FO position, so I am assuming that I am in the pipline. I do remember now a list of questions I filled out when I re-did the application after they changed it a little bit ago. I just don't remeber seeing anything about 'being competitive' anywhere on mine. Will look around again as I update.
Thanks..
