My transition from Military to Charter aviation was smooth until I heard a brand new Captain who finally upgraded after years of trying was verbally and physically abusing FOs and FAs and those that he "outranks" with time in service in the company. When I heard he slapped a friend on the back of the head during a landing roll I was furious and was determined to roll over the justice of a blanket party in the civilian world. But alas, the skygods had other plans and the company went down under and we all went our separate ways. 10 months later, I hear that he is managing a GIV and flying it as a Captain. WTFO??? This guy is known to be an unsafe pilot, can't find his arse in a GII and abuses his subordinates and he gets a GIV Chief Pilot slot????? Where is the justice???

:uzi:

Guy's like that are a dime a dozen in the corporate aviation world, unfortunately. IMHO, it's a product of money driven hiring. The best that you can hope for is to be better than those guys.

And also hope you never are put in that situation. :smash:

THERE IS NO JUSTICE IN AVIATION!

It can't be said any better. I have came accross so many similar stories to this.

Remember... All the employeers/ owners care about is:

1. time in type
2. your last sim check

With standards that low, every jerk has an opportunity to get a job.

AMEN!!!!!
Just told my partner (who is technically my subordinate) that if I ever start coming across as a dick he should feel free to slap ME in the back of the head and knock me back to reality. Life's to short, have a cold one and enjoy the ride.

Yeah same for me -- I just hired a new pilot a couple months ago, my first at this company and I told her almost the exact same thing. If I start acting like an a$$ feel free to knock me up side the head.

I agree with what most of the others say, but, every once in a while it works the other way around, I worked at a crappy little commuter a couple years and went on my way after being laid off, four years later, a friend mine that I worked with there, calls me out of the clear blue and tells me he can get me a real job, I got the job and everything worked out great. So, the moral of this story is that you need to be nice to all folks, that dumb lineman may be your next chief pilot.

Keep networking brotha

+1000 on this one. Don't expect a cool job out of it, but be nice to EVERYONE you work with.
Karma is a cruel bitch and she will be repaid...
