I stated "merger or not." I also never wrote anything about "all downhill." How did you interpreted all down hill out of my last post?

It is true that JetBlue has benefitted from APA pilots limiting outsourcing, AA's poorly sized aircraft to routes, their older pilot group and pre-911 cost structure.

All I'm saying is that AA will be much more competitive post BK (again, merger or not). This may be why JetBlue expressed interest in a codeshare over going head to head with AA.

I think it would be fantastic if SWA merged with JetBlue and I hope it happens.

Why would it be so great?
It's true Jetblue wanted the codeshare AA didn't want domestic feed into JFK or anything. I have respect for AA but I think you are giving them to much credit.

Simple as that! Buy new planes and your casm shrinks. You're a real genius, it's probably best you stick to playing minecraft kid.

B6Busdriver, did you notice my second post or did you just read the first one and reply?

Yes, well I think it's pretty simple that AA will be more competitive post BK. Here is the breakdown of that "pre-911 cost structure" I mentioned prior to your negative remark.

  • AA has screwed its creditors out of their money.
  • Frozen pilot's pensions.
  • Is retiring a top of pay scale pilot groups.
  • Bought-out senior flight attendants.
  • Slashed flight attendant top pay scales.
  • Lowered costs through synergies (if AA merges).
  • Acquisition of BOS-LGA/DCA shuttles (if AA merges).
  • Asia/Oceania/Africa growth (more so if AA merges).
  • Lower fuel consumption through fleet refresh.
  • Adding e190s, a319s, 787s and 777-300s fleets to right size equipment to routes and enter (or reenter) markets.
  • Restore the OneWorld Alliance Brand with network offerings to capture more business customers (more so if AA merges).

Does this make sense B6Busdriver?

Why would it be so great?

Jetblue is an amazing airline with a great brand.

I don't know the source of the SWA+JB talk, but I think the merger would greatly improve pay and job security for all airline pilots.

More mergers=more margins=more $$$!
