The Dec 13th class got calls only 3 weeks ahead. I hope that they will go out next week so I can give my two week notice and enjoy the hollidays with my family. Otherwise It looks like another Christmas on the road....

Happy Hollidays everyone.

I was a Jun 23 interview and the latest word from HQ (3 days ago) is that I'm in the SECOND class in January - date TBA. As far as calls for Dec 13 ... don't forget that there was a DB in progress on the "4 week prior" days so the CP's were unavailable to make calls. Otherwise they've been pretty good about starting calls on the Monday of the 4th week prior.

Waiting for the Call Too

Countrymen,
I talked with Kim last week in an attempt to pin down my class date so I could set up my separation date from the Air Force. She counted up the folks left in the pool figuring in poolies who had defered due to military commitments in case they became available for this class and said worst case scenario I should be #20--which will just make the 3 Jan Class.

She went on to say that nothing is official until a Chief Pilot calls us and invites us to the class...then they send out your welcome packet and study material/CD (they divide up the calls, so if you happen to get called by a Chief Pilot from Dallas, that in no way means that you might be doing your IOE or first bid out of Dallas). She said they hoped to meet this first week of December and make the final decision to have a 3 Jan class and if they'd have 20 or 24 students in it. Based on her confident words that worst case scenario I'd make the class...I put in my papers to establish a separation date short of my reserve active duty orders--so I'm hoping it comes to fruition as much as anyone out there!

For those of you trying to figure out if you'll make this class...my pool date when I got my Type Rating was 20 June (Sunday/Father's day). I'm just making the class if folks on military deferment become available...so I may be the last pool date to make the class. On the Bubble? Those of you in the 21/22 June pool date time frame may be getting a call if some of our "defenders of freedom" are still keeping us safe to pursue the American Dream--so answer the phone next week!

I'm checking the forum daily...as soon as any of us get the word that calls are going out--let's post so the rest of us can stand by for our Christmas present (i.e. one of the last dudes/dudettes to get the call--like me:)). Maybe we can put together a little forum class roster and have a jump on who our issued "best friends" are going to be for the first 6 weeks of 2005.

Make it a great weekend!

Good luck Speed! This is the worst part of the waiting. Look forward to seeing you in the Big D!

On the FENCE!

Thanks for the replies. I had a feeling us June 21/22 bubbas would be on the fence. It's all good, Jan 3rd or 17th! It's shaping up to be a great year.

Good luck to all & Happy Holidays.

Anyone hear anymore rumors about more than three Jan classes, or more people in each class? I am waiting for the call for 31 Jan class which is fine with me but 17 Jan would be even better. I am just glad I am in the pool at all. Retire from the AF in Jan - start at SWA in Jan, "Who needs a lottery ticket"!

ToneToad... what day did you interview? I *think* I am slated for 2/14 class after interviewing with a type on 7/20. I am curious if I might slip to the 2/28 class. (also hoping for more classes to maybe move up...)

We *all* hit the lottery... can't wait for Dallas. :)

Toad- I did hear a rumor that there was a good chance of 3 classes in jan. I also heard a rumor that if they crank up the training dept (like training was asked if they could do) then the interview to class time would go from 6-7 months to 3-4 months. If there's around 200 in the pool, then 3 classes of 24 in jan would almost halve it in one month! Speculation, but good speculation for poolies!

Good luck to everyone. We all need it!

Saab - I interviewed Jul 8
Harley - Good luck to you and everyone at ATA, I hope and pray everything works out well for you all.

"Anybody get good news yet??"

Yeah...........I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance!

Congrats to the Jan. 3rd class guys and gals. You will actually have a good time and enjoy the training in DAL. As far as permanent bases go, there are lots of newbies on the line like me who have bids in for other bases so we will be vacating OAK in short order. That's one of the reasons OAK is the Crew Planners base of choice for newbies.

See you on the line and congratulations!

Just Got The Call!!

It is an Outstanding day that just got better!

The Assistant Chief Pilot from Oakland, Jim R., called me at 1033 MST to officially invite me to the first SWA class of 2005 starting 3 Jan.

He told me to complete the process to call Kim at the SWA PD and she'll send out the welcome packet with information about how you and your spouse can fly out for training...they'll fly your spouse back after the 2-day orientation.

To fully complete the process you have some paperwork to fill out, they will run a final fingerprint check on you, and you have to show up at training with a current Class I medical.

My pool date was 20 June (interviewed April 22nd and got the type rating on 20 June) for those of you keeping track of how close you're getting.

Looking forward to seeing the rest of the class soon--Let's make it a GREAT 2005!!

Congrats Speed! thats a nice little "stocking stuffer" to have this holiday season. Good luck to all who are waiting for class dates and interviewes. Be safe and responsible this holiday season and hold close all that is important....especially your spouse, children, parents, siblings, and friends. I was hopefull that the June 23 folks would make this class, but its looking like we will be "on your six" for the Jan 17th class.

Hope to see ya all in DAL soon!
cheers,
TJ
