At peak I believe Astar had some 44 aircraft. ABX had 74 DC-9's and 30 767's along with a handful of DC-8's.

DHL apparently didn't want ABX to do any of the international flying other than a flight or two to Canada. Astar handles some runs to Mexico.
I knew it was bad, I just wasn't sure how bad until somebody sent me an article from this months ATW.

"daily shipments in the US fell from around 1.2 million at this time last year to "less than 100,000" currently"

For that kind of volume, the dreaded "C" containers would probably work just fine.

Didn't ABX run the 767's to Europe when they first got them? Did DHL stop that as well?

Back on track ...

Any news about the date of this move?

I understand DHL is interviewing for the sort operation.

no, we did not have any ETOPS aircraft until the first one which is just coming online as we speak.

Ok. I remember that 76's to Europe was the rumor as I was leaving ABX long time ago. I take it the ETOPs bird is for Africa?
