Dash Trash's article hits the nail on the head.

On very rare occasions ALPA has had campaigns to educate the flying public, but the are usually ineffective. The odd thing is, studies dating back to the 1930's, have shown that the public does not demand lower wages or lower working conditions. The passengers do not want the pilots worrying about financial problems, lack of health care or poor working conditions, they want a "happy and contented flight crew", which only has their safety and well being in mind.

Airline management and their money people are the ones who are insisting on low wages and substandard conditions.

The public demands reasonable air fares (read: cheap) with good reason. The legacy carriers got away with murder for too long.

The free market rules.

Do you know on a 10-hour trans Atlantic flight in which the plane flies itself, the pilot is getting paid over $200 an hour to read the latest issue of Maxim? So, how would you like the pay to be changed from $30 an hour during the security walk through pre-flight through the entire flight? What's your point? Professionals are underpaid across industries. Hel%, garbage men are underpaid for handling your feces.
If you are tired of reading articles about how overpaid pilots are, quit reading them. Society doesn't care about pilot wages as they are too concerned about their own lives.
You certainly have some high stress issues, my man. One issue you shouldn't worry about is having to work past 60 as if these things really raise your blood pressure, you are a stroke waiting to happen.

Wow ...

Just pasted an interesting e-mail that is floating around, and all of a sudden I'm whinning and having a stroke. I'll just step back and watch the race to the bottom continue.

Good to know that a 2000 CFII has has such a grasp of the industry.

Garbagemen are paid what they are paid because they decided that that was the best they could do. To compare them to a doctor/lawyer/pilot/businessman is very naive.

How about a caveman to a Psychiatrist?
