I think the pieces of the puzzle are starting to fit together at Mesaba.
NWA had this whole thing well planned out - they would gut this airline
down to nothing, force the employees into major concessions, then buy
up the low priced work force for a very cheap price.

I guess after that, they will build it up then spin it off, just like
they did with PNCL. It all really makes sense when you think about it.
Look for an announcement very soon that Mesaba has been sold to NWA
and another one that states Mesaba is picking up a large order of
aircraft, most likely the CRJ-900's. This should happen within the next
few weeks.

Meanwhile, MAIR continues to grow Big Sky. After Mesaba is sold to NWA,
MAIR will pick up an aircraft order for Big Sky and use them in their
Delta operation in BOS, as well as possibly their MDW operation. They will
be able to underbid just about everyone with their lowball contract. MAIR should have plenty of cash to finance the operation ....

So.......all these headaches and problems the employees have suffered the
last several years watching a very good airline disintegrate before their eyes
was for a reason -- making a lot of rich people a lot of money. I guess at this point, MAIR stock is extremely attractive because the rumors have been flying and no announcements have happened as yet. That would be the philosophy of "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em," but so far, that has been working for me. At any rate, 2007 will be a very interesting year at Mesaba as well as Big Sky.

You are way off. Word around the school-house is PNCL just signed a deal with Flight Safety Intl to provide the training for the CRJ-900 in STL.
No CRJ's for Messaba/Chautauqua or anyone but PNCL.
 
Northwest isn't going to own Compass and Mesaba... if they buy Mesaba, my bets are that Compass disappears. So, how about some nice shiny EMB-175s for Mesaba?
 
Well............I am not positive on which aircraft is coming our way,
but I do think SOMETHING positive is going to happen at Mesaba, and all I can say is......

"It's about time!"
 
Well, if you read the NWA world traveler, Steenland says there will be 76 seat regional jets at NWA in January. NWA pays Mesaba millions to keep its CRJ fleet of one to stay around. FOR WHY? OH and how do you build up a company if you do not give it any planes? A lot of things do not make sense and there are a lot of different ways this could go, but one thing is for certain. If NWA buys XJ, XJ will get planes sooner rather than later.
 
I agree with you Hawk......NWA will buy Mesaba first before they get
the order is my guess. That way they can get it for a rock bottom
price. Either that, or the announcements will come simultaneously.
This DOES make sense.

Just look at the stock. It is steadily moving upward, for the first time
since Foley got here seven or whatever years ago. Somebody knows
something and this is all coming together.
 
NWA was forced to make an announcement that it had the intent to purchase mesaba after legally having to file a change in ownership of mesaba. This is based off the intent to deliver at least 25 aircraft or more, which in turn would make mesaba a wholly owned subsidy of NWA. This is old news anyway, any shareholder knew mair stock would dilute if they delivered the CRJ's.

The Big Sky announcement was the big shocker...I'm interested to see how the MAIR letter plays out and what ALPA will negotiate in return. Ha .....probably nothing.

That's probably to do Delta flying.

Does the CRJ900 require additional sim training, after all 9E has operated CRJs for years? My understanding is that is was just differences training - a CD based thing and a test.
 
Same type rating. Just differences training. Quick add and fix for an eastablished CRJ program

200 to 700/900 requires a few sims and a bit of ground school. 700 to 900 is just a handout.

The 200 and 700, while the same type, are vastly different airplanes.

You did hear hear it on flight info. There is only a 5% chance that it is true. You could call up STL flight saftey and pretend you work in the PCL training department and ned to verify a few things. If this is a false rumor they won't have a clue what you are talking about.
 
I believe there are differences in the books as well which will require faa approval which we all know means time. I am starting to belive no crj's at xj. that lone crj was the carrot to seal the deal on the ta. my guess would be the emb which in my oppinion equals the slowest growth option. cya

I work for RAH.
PCL does not have a crj900 sim.
From my understanding they can do it in the 700 sim in STL.
(I do not know if PCL has 700 sims as of yet, maybe they can chime in)
Just telling you what FSI told us at a PC in STL a short while ago.
This was 1st hand from FSI.

Compass to do E190 training there at the STL main building with the RAH pilots and the CRJ program being moved to the "X" building down by the casino's.

TSA, Ho-jets and CHQ to move CRJ stuff to that buliding.


Rumors in our camp was that we traded off some E170/190 sim time for the CRJ900 with NWA. Almost ZERO sim time available for the E190 for the rest of the year (2007). Made sense to us. Only YUL-(Air Canada) STL- (FSI and RAH) and JB in MCO had the sims in North America.

Does NOT appear to be the case.

And so the drama continues.

We have 3 CRJ200 sims in Memphis via Flight Safety. It will be interesting to see how the company tries to get payscales on a plane we don't fly.

Uh, when did Big Sky have a MDW operation? Oh thats right. They will be flying to one city, SPI.
 
OK, so it is a a SMALL operation. LOL.

The bottom line is Big Sky very quietly is expanding their operations.
This is where MAIR will continue to pump their money in 2007 because Mesaba is probably going to be sold very soon to NWA. I think it is just about
a done deal, too.

And yes, they probably will be flying in larger equipment than 19
seat aircraft.
 
i heard Skywest diferences training is 4 hours, where ASA is like 2 days.

I guess it all depends on your FAA POI.

SkyWest have an understanding with their POI that ASA and 9E don't have with theirs.

Couldn't tell you where any 200, 700, or 900 sims are myself. But I know for a fact XJ has two more APD's going through CRJ200 and 900 Differences right now in YUL. Straight from one of the APD trainees. Interesting that they're in training now, since we are losing the 2 crj's we do have.
 
R.J. Told one on the Mesaba Saab ground school classes that he is sending D.W. to YUL through the CRJ program. Quote from R.J. "I am confident we will be getting CRJ's that I'm sending our cheif pilot through CRJ school rather than saab school." Interesting since the decision was made after NW announced they would be taking the remaining CRJ and giving it to 9E. Also look in the NWA/Compass pilot Contract. A wholly owned subsidary may opererate the CRJ 900LR with up to 90 seats, not 76 but 90! When NWA buys mesaba they will become a wholly owned subsid. I think your wrong about the 90 seats. Everything I can find in the contract references the certificated capicity of the crj 90 being allowed but configured to 51-76.

It's in LOA 2006-13. The acft can be certificated for up to 90 seats, but only fly with a 76 seat configuaration. Go to 77 and it flies at the mainline.

Talking to one of the negotiators this was to allow NWA to purchase existing production airframes that could be flown in a 2 class configration (superior product to other feeds) while adhering to Scope restrictions.

Not quite. A wholly owned subsidary may be awarded 90 76-seat aircraft instead of limited to 55. If they are awarded to XJ the first 36(Avro replacements) no seats will have to be given up to furloughed NW pilots, 37-90 we would have to give up half the CA and FO seats to NW furloughees.

Actually if it is wholly owned Compass rules apply and all seats for furloughed NWA pilots, per LOA 2006-10 and there might not even be a carve out for the Avros's any longer. Plus flow up/down. The seats for NWA furlough pilots is largely moot because any who want to come back will be offered recall within the next few months.

A. Definitions.

a. "Category 1 Participating Feeder Carrier" means a Participating Feeder Carrier that is an Affiliate of the Company.....

B. Offers of Opportunity (Filling of Vacancies)

1. A Category 1 Participating Feeder Carrier shall make 100% of New Positions (Captain and First Officer) and 100% of Backfill Positions available to Eligible Furloughed Pilots.....
 
This is correct if NWA takes mesaba in as a wholly owned, all seats on the 76 seat jets belong to NWA furloughs.
