I know the answer, but I am throwing this out for a 18 year old pilot who thinks that 135 Piston PIC single pilot for a VFR only operation is better than 121 SIC Turbine time.

He is a high time 500 hour pilot with 33 multi ready to conquer the world.

After you get about 1000 PIC of any kind, you start needing multi engine, and turbine time if you want to get into jets. 5000 hours of driving a 172 around isn't going to do you much good into getting you into the right seat of a jet. Soon as you can get a 121 SIC job, get it. You can always burn PIC in a 152 on the side, or quit when you get a couple thousand hours of jet time.

If you KNOW the answer and have TOLD this guy the answer, obviously he doesn't value your opinion very much. I'd say let him do what he wants to do and who cares?

Not the worst advice I've ever heard....but no matter what....PIC time is more valuable than SIC time. Multi Engine is better than Single Engine.

I'd say take any job that comes your way if thats what you want to do. VFR ME PIC may help you get a job that will get you some IFR ME PIC which in some cases could lead you to ME Turbine PIC in a King Air or something....

3000 Jet SIC out of 3500 TT wont get you anywere that 1500 TT and a few hundred ME Piston PIC would get you....just ask most of the Indy Air Furloughees.....I've got a friend that was just furloughed....only thing she qualifies for now is another Regional or maybe a Fractional job.

Its all about the letters PIC....show that you can "be in command"....meaning making decisions and such....any chimp can fly an airplane.
