G-IV - First Officer

DESCRIPTION:

There are Millville, New Jersey and Ontario, California positions
available. The aspirant must be willing to relocate and if not
qualified, to invest in his GIV type rating at Simuflite. The schedule
is 14/7. A good attitude and ability to work within a highly
structured environment is a must. You must be motivated to learn
all aspects of your position on a continuing basis. This includes a
high degree of professionalism and knowledge of aircraft systems
to include aeronautical knowledge. Starting salary is 48K/yr upon
successfull completion of qualification requirements. Company
pays a training stipend of $2,500/mo during training. You must
pass our basic indoc training with 80% or better and successfully
complete any required flight training before you are given a final
hiring status.

Minimum qualifications are 2000 total flight hours, 1500 Multi-
engine.

Without a positive attitude no amount of experience will qualify you
for this position. Faxed resumes only, no phone calls. Only faxes
from individuals meeting the minimum experience will be
considered. This position is ready for immediate availability. Please
state the position you are applying for on your resume.

"Invest" in your own training? my guess is a GIV rating is a min of 40K these days.

$2500/month in training...

48K/yr after that. That goes far in New Jersey.....like trailer park far...

I like how it goes on to talk about "professionalism" and the fact that you still need to pass "company indoc" before getting officially hired into this stellar outfit...

Call it what you want...PFT, an opportunity, whatever.....but you gotta be a nut to get involved in that mess.

Just an opinion.

 .

It only takes 22 days to do an initial at Simuflite. I'm wondering if they make you do a 6 month "IOE" as well at $2500 a month. Hmmm.

fatburger

Ummm...buying a type rating in a freakin GIV, for a 48k a year job? And apparently "aeronautical knowledge" is required as well. Don't see too many jobs that make that a requirement, guess it must be really, really important to these people. Sign of a high-class operator right there (sarcasm intended).

I think I know this company. If they are who I think they are, the reason they have the applicant buy the type is 1) they just got the airplane 2) they have had 100% turnover in pilots and management, year over year, over the last three years. Everytime they typed someone, the pilot moved on to a better job within months.

Gee, why would pilots move on after such a short time? (yes that's sarcasm too)

Now, I could be wrong, but the Millville and Ontario references make me think I'm right.

Seriously low pay and pay for your own rating. This place screams scumbag. Absolutely incredible if they fill this job. What does a G4 initial cost? $30K+?

What makes it even worst is that if you already have the type rating the salary is way below average.

Hey tundra, the ad states to send a fax to apply. I don't see the fax number on the ad. By any chance is the fax number in the (909) area code?

But it a great to get expereince and move on, it looks like a place from which to launch a career.

What are you basing that opinion on, the ad?

No the area code is 480 and the number is.......348-2440 (for those that are truly desperate) The company is located in Scottsdale.

No I basing it upon a posting of rapid turnover, you have to assume they are going to better jobs.

OK thanks. I know the company but it's not as bad as I thought. It's not the one I thought it might be.

48k is pretty pathetic for a GIV FO.

can't you deduct the cost of the type rating for your taxes?

Yes, but you would have to assume that you would have an income to deduct from your taxes. At $48k a year and 40k investment, you would be lucky to get a few grand back.

Not to be a flaming post, however, wasn't the Challenger that crashed in Montrose operated by a charter company out of Millville NJ? Yeah, this is a different name, but come on, how many charter operators are based in Millville??

....maybe different name, same company.

What is a "14/7" schedule? Does that actually mean 14 hour days, 7 days a week? Holy sh*t, I would seriously not do that for three or four times the posted pay. Knock off the drive to and from the airport, which is probably substantial considering you won't be able to afford to live anywhere near it, and you're MAYBE home enough to get 8 hours of sleep at night, if you can fall right to sleep. Not sure when you'd eat, pay bills, and take care of life's other necessities. Personal life? Forget it. No frigging WAY...

NetJets used to run our crews 14 hours consistently, on a daily basis, with the exception of a day or two within the 6 day rotation. It takes its toll on your body after a while.

any chance 14/7 means 14 days on and 7 days off?

Not that it makes the job any more appealing, but Millville is in south Jersey, which is a completely different world from that mess up near New York in north Jersey. Believe me, you'd have no problem finding a nice place to live down there near the airport. Job still sucks though.

Ah, 14 on 7 off, that makes more sense. Still really sucks, though!
