The worst news this week; the Chairman of the EXCO has given his 2 weeks notice. This represents the loss of a true asset to the pilot group, who knows how long it will be until his shoes are filled.

Along with the name and phone number of a lawyer to "work" on the training contract. With Frontier hiring, it's gonna be a rough fall/early winter. The juniorman season begins afresh.

Sidebar: If your contract permits continuous duty overnights, but limits them to two legs total, be thankful. Due to a cancellation one lucky pilot flew seven legs in one night this week. Not cool.

I got the impression the company didn't feel as though there was anything to meet about. The September 8th letter on the website www.ibt747.org doesn't look hopeful.

This letter pertains to Great Lakes Aviation pilot negotiations that have been underway for over five years. In a telephone conversation today with Federal Mediator Jack Kane, he indicated that he was canceling future meetings.



The pilot group rejected a previous tentative agreement by an overwhelming margin. Since that time, management made no improved offers and it withdrew what it had proposed in the rejected offer. The company has made vague references to filing Chapter 11, which did not happen, and it suggests that wage increases can occur only if Congress increases the payment schedule for essential air services (EAS) performed by the carrier.



The carrier management has been unwilling to bargain fairly with the Union or cooperate with the mediator in bringing this case to a successful conclusion. The Union therefore requests a meeting with the Board to seek a means of resolution or, in the alternative, that the Union be offered a proffer.

SAF isn't gone yet, but still a threat. Like said before, the chairman of exco did not quit yet. When he does, someone has already offered to step up into his place, who is pissed enough at this company to probably do a pretty good job. The dude who had the eight leg night was due to, per the memo of the CP, "an extremely high volume of sick calls" and "rumors" of a sick out. He must have been feeling well that day, so he covered everyone's flying. What a fine company man. As far as the end of the month meetings go, I'm expecting exactly d!ck to happen.

Company man? The afternoon DDC-PNC flight got cancelled for mx in DDC and ferried. Stranded pax there, who had to wait for the evening flight. I don't remember seeing any memo, where is it?

The threat to take SAF away has been going around since my indoc in 2001. It aint going to happen until they let bigger planes into SAF.
