Is Piedmont activly interviewing and hiring pilots?

Does HR give any extra weight to resumes walked in by current PDT pilots?

Any info is appreciated. Thanks

Apparently- this is a BIG apparently- the pool is drained and they should be hiring soon... why, I have no idea. The March 6th class seems to be all online now, and it seems another class is in the sims with another starting very soon.

Notice the vague nature of the info?

And it SEEMS a walk in of the rez helps. My interview was about a tenth as long as it took me to type this, it was walked in, but my times were a lot higher than usual as a current 135 pilot on a turdbo prop.

They hired about 10 Purdue kids from what I hear. Interviewed and then the next day offered class dates (this all happened about 2 weeks ago). This is second hand information, however.

do they hire exclusively out of aviation universities?
No, although it seems that way at times. In the march 6th class we had several aviation univ. grads, but I know at least one guy didn't go to an "aviation univ.". As for hiring, I've heard that they are going to run a class towards the middle of this month. A buddy of mine in our class who went to Purdue did say that John and someone else did go up to Purdue and hired about 10 guys/gals so that rumor might have some truth to it. All the best to anyone trying to get in.

I interviewed in March and was placed in the hiring pool. Apparently they are hiring 14 pilots in May and in June. Is anyone else included in that hiring pool. Anyone have an idea on how long it usually takes to get a call for a training date?

There were a few of us that didn't go to an aviation university (myself included) in the first March class. The other two guys went to either Flight Safety or Pan Am, can't remember. Rumor has it that fourteen more lucky souls are to receive an invitation to the capital of chicken processing in May and June.

As far as Salisbury's preference for Purdue, maybe it has something to do with Frank Purdue and his chicken nuggets....?

Hey RJ, you off reserve yet?

Frank hates the university after a fall out regarding spelling (pErdue v. pUrdue) back in 1982.

This is true, per folks in the training dept.

judging from your time and being in the pool, you went to an av.uni.?

I went to a flight school, also I know three guys that fly for PDT. I also know a guy that flew for them for 17 years, which helps I guess. I've tried to call and email HR to follow up the interview but no response from them at all. Is it just me or are they super busy down there?

thats the way they are there, (wont get back to you) parker is a busy person she wont return phone calls... i've been at pdt for a while now. dont have a chip on your shoulder and you'll do fine!

Haha, I wish, after this month I'll be on straight reserve I'm sure. That does give me an idea though, maybe I can come up to MDT and hold a build up line and knock you down a slot or two.:D

avl pilot i know of some other peeps that are thinking of doing that, some of the peeps including myself that have been here for over a year that are maybe bidding for mdt just becuase the lines are a bit better there. although if phl or bos, or pit flying isn't your cup of tea then stay away from mdt. clt isn't really touched by mdt crews. my best advice is dont chase a line, becuase it can be pulled from anyone very quickly by having peeps come into base, its happen to be more than once!

Yea, so you and I can irritate 30 year ALG cappys with our flying skillz together  :D ???

You sound a little bitter, CEO...

I do agree though, mmmmmmm Perdue chicken....:)

Nothing against Purdue products, good pilots. Back off the alma mater Kool Aid, though.

No "alma mater koolaid" here other than the username, friend - I'm proud of my school and thats the extent of it. You'll never see me boast about my school or claim alums are any better than anybody else. I've seen far too much to make such a ridiculous claim...;)

What about your flying irritates ALG captains? Most of the MDT crews are fun to fly with.

Probably how much I suck at it...

Actually, everyone I flew with so far has been extremely laid back.

Yea, I agree, I think the only way I'm going to bid for another base is if they throw me out of EWN. Quality of life is great here and I wouldn't give that up for a build up or hard line although it is nice to dream about holding a line faster than a year down the road.:D Look forward to meeting all of you Bern guys and gals, so far the only New Bern capt. i've flown with is Mike Blout, great guy.

What was the training like at PDT? The chief pilot said to put it off until you're absolutely ready. Is it really that intense or is he just talking nonsense? How long does it take and how much do they pay while in training?

Sounds like PDT is hiring, that's good....But to whomever asked the question, though- If you are competitive to go get hired there, why not try for Chautauqua/Repub/Shuttle, Air Wisconsin, or Skywest? If I were you, that's where I'd be applying. Bases, pay, equipment, outlook just seem to be better at those. Just my two cents. Nothing against PDT!

They don't spoon feed it to you, but treat you fair at the same time. Takes about a month, full guarantee and single occupancy after the systems test.

I got called for an interview on the 18th. I know I am being optimistic, but is there any current info about the pool or future class dates?

ewn actually has a pretty hot fa. a.bock she a good looking girl to say the least!
No kiddin, dood. What about the OTHER A.B.? I think she's still down there... what a knockout... flychicaga would know her from Chi Express (Matt, you lookin? She remembers you!). And the FO from ORF... KF? Good lord all friday!

As many as 18 were hired up at *that one university that sounds like the chicken guy*. Makes a little sense- I was the only re-zoyve (SBD) in Stankbury today and they tried the good old JM (gotta love the contract).

I'm the one that started the thread. CHQ/REP/S5 isn't an a viable option for me for several reasons. My resume is in at Air Wiskey and Skywest. Realistically PDT is a good option for me because I am within commuting distance of La Garbage, and if they are hiring 250 hour Purdue Grads, I figure I have a shot, especially since I have someone to walk in my resume.

Does anyone ever get stuck in the hiring pool and never actually get a training date? I can't take this waiting anymore! ha

Myself, CEO, and MU2 all sat in the hiring pool for 4-6 months before we got a class and I've heard of people who had to wait almost a year before getting there class date. That being said, no-one that I know/heard of has never not gotten a class date after being put in the pool unless they left on their own. Just keep flying and staying instrument current and you'll be ready for when your called up for your class and from what I've heard that may not be that long of a wait.
