is there such a thing?

i've heard other pilot's, not controllers mind you, say such and such is a training facility, ie, tower or tracon. then, if i remember correctly, i thought i was told by a controller that there are no 'training facility' airports. that one airport does not get all the 'trainees' per say to give them real, hands on, experience.

so...if i read it here i'll know it's true. ;) but the dude i'm flying with now swears up and down phx is a 'training facility', is he right? or not???

thx

From my understanding, they are all training facilities now with the influx of new-hires and a retirement boom looming.

Every facility is a training facility. You get assigned, you train, you wash or check out. Some get more trainees then others.

philly is.....
