Here's another story for the G0Jet files. Was leaving the hotel in TUL on sunday. The hotel has posted a memo for ASA and GJ crews that the van runs on the hour and half hour only. I was waiting at the bell stand at 12:55 and a GJ FO walked up and was asked by the bellman/vandriver if his crew was taking the 1 o'clock van. He said "no, the 1:15", to my suprise. The bellman said there was a 1 o'clock van and could they take it? To my further suprise this kid says "NO!, we are taking the 1:15!" At the point I was going to make a smart a$$ remark the Hotel manager ushered the bellman and my crew out to the van. I asked the manager if she had to put up with that all the time from them? She said that they won't ride with another crew and have been putting up with this crap for a few weeks now, but not for much longer. I then noticed the memo in the van was gone.

And I thought they just didn't want to ride with me. I did a smell check and everything.

Maybe it's a contractual thing. A lot of airlines have hotel contracts requiring the hotel to provide transportation to the airport at the usual report time for the crew. If the hotel agrees to provide such transportation when they accept the contract, then they should provide it. Some hotels try to intimidate crews into taking van rides on the hotel's schedule to save money. My time off is mine, not the hotel's, and I'm not going to give up 15 minutes of it to them just so they don't have to honor the contract they signed.

mmmmmmmmmmm.....lets see.....if everyone hated me as much as they hated blowjet i wouldn't want to ride with another crew either! So ya it is you and everyone else in this profession. I think it's GREAT!
