I read in a yahoo message board that Centurion is flying World's Dayton to Brussels run.Anyone know if this is true? Please say it ain't so.

I didn't know World was on strike just yet. could be an arrangement between World and Centurion. Don't jump to conclusions mate!

is that the ups menlo freight being flown by world instead of the ipa? man it sucks when someone is flying your freight. so now the freight is ups to be flown by ipa being flown by world who is contracting with ups and now in neg./strike. now centurian is flying it?

Last I heard, Arrow was flying OUR route from DAY-BRU. It's our route, not World's. It would be very interesting for UPS to allow us to fly OUR route now with World on strike. How can a contractor have any contracted work that is struck work?

it does seem logical to allow ups to fly their own freight now that it is not under contract. i was just wondering who stepped in to move it.i agree it did sort of sound like i implied it was actually world's freight,i suppose world's "contract" to move ups freight would have been correct.

Don't know if we are doing that route right now, since I am furloughed. Heard we were doing something out of Dayton, but then again, I have heard a lot in the last few weeks.

The Menlo freight is just about as struck as struck can be. Just ask a Emery pilot.

So let me see if I have this correct:

A company contracting out their work due to lack of capacity, is the same as another company flying work that is being struck?

Umm, I don't see the correlation.

OK, can i ask another question? Not to confuse the whole issue but if a company... I dont know Centurion so we'll call them Bob's Cargo Airlines. Bob's is a small non union company. After World goes on strike Worlds management calls Bobs and asks them to fly thier struck freight. Bobs management is more than happy to help! After all competition is fierce these days. Bob's Air Cargo is also more than happy to tell thier pilots that if they don't fly the struck freight they will surely be standing in an unemployment line... Due to no fault of thier own Bob's Air Cargo's pilots are now stuck with either not having a job or being labeled a scab for the rest of thier careers... Is this just the risk you take signing on to Bob's in the first place?

You'd think I'd already know about this type of situation... maybe I've just gotten lucky so far....

Except but Bob's Cargo is unionized. Well, if that's what you can call those useless scumbags at the IBT, anyway.

What's the latest with the World strike? IBT doing anything for them?

At Centurion, you would think the IBT would at least return your phone call regarding a furlough, nonetheless send at least one form of communication regarding the situation.

Sounds like you need a quick education on "struck work". The devil is in the details. Struck work is any work the pilots were doing before the strike. The DAY BRU was work and now it is struck. Comprende. Its not that tough to figure out is it? Regardless of it being "your run" since UPS holdings now owns menlo you weren't flying it BEFORE the strike so you can't fly it now or you'll be a scab. The only way out of this would be for Brown is to shift that freight through SDF from that flight. Then you'll be scabbin and won't even know it. You can only blame Brown management for this screw job. They have screwed you guys on your scope and now they are getting a little hose job themselves. I'm sure this has caused them(management) some pain.

I'm sure UPS wouldn't issue a contract without a failure to perform clause. If they cancel the contract for non performance and reissue it to say NWA Cargo I'm not so sure its struck work.Same thing with EVA. If they say to World take your MD11's and bye and then call some DC 10 operator, then what ????World has a duty to perform the contracts they signed. If they don't the customer can just say bye.

I don't know what happened in your aviation past with IBT, but they are going above and beyond with World.

Here's what happened with those IBT scumbags- not a damn thing. We got furloughed and didn't even recieve as much as an email or a phonecall. In fact, I've been with the company for 6 months and have yet to see a copy of the contract- they've been to lazy to issue them out.

All that the IBT is good for is stealing our money. They can go somewhere unpleasant and go ************************* themselves.

Not that I'm bitter at those a$$holes or anything.

Yup.

Sure do.

Funny thing is, I still get a newsletter from ALPA and I still get calls from my ALPA reps from my old company, even though I left 7 months ago.
