What is up with Air Whisky are they hiring- what is the latest?

There are rumors for both yes and no, but I heard through the grapevine that we are still calling people in for interviews. I believe its mostly just prior 121 experience, though. I would send and see what happens, couldnt hurt. Hope that helps.

Its all about QOL here. I'm ORD based and hired at the beginning of this year and have every friday and saturday off with at least 15 off usually. 200 people underneath me give or take a few. I'm loving it but you will get a different story from anybody who doesn't live in their base (almost everybody else at this company). All I hear is b1tching everytime I go to work and most of it involves either the pay cut or the schedules and commuting. CURRENTLY upgrade is 3.5 years but that means nothing. I was told 8 to 10 years during the interview and that means NOTHING. That is just the company trying to give an applicant a realistic picture of what MIGHT happen. Sounds like a good hiring practice to me. I don't know why everybody tries to predict upgrade because YOU CAN'T if the company doesn't have a boatload of airplanes being delivered and people are upgrading in less than a year. It's pointless to try. Right now we have so much attrition because people don't want to commute the rest of their careers after the close of Denver. A lot of the guys that I've flown with lately are so tired of the job that they are actively pursuing other careers outside of aviation. Good riddance! These people owe it to their fellow employees and themselves to quit making everybody else miserable that they work with. You hear about some going to Frontier but we have retirements here too. A lot of the BAC Jet guys look like they are about ready to die so they must be getting up there.

Rumors..rumors...rumors.... AWAC is still calling in pilots for interviews every week. More pilots have moved on than is typically expected due to the close of the CRJ base at Denver. Rumors of picking up the UAL flying from some other carriers who are about to be dropped abound. An October new hire class is planned. The latest new hire class of 26 had a very broad range of ages and experience ranging from age 21 to 40+ and hours from around 1000 to 8,000+. Most had civilian 121 and 135 experience but several had CFI ME experience only. 1 had been a USAF instructor pilot. 3 out of 26 had low time and had CL-65 types from the CAE program. The common thread was that everyone was well qualified to become a regional FO and had a pleasant and confident personality. Good luck.

Why not call them and find out who the new person is and send/fax them a new resume immediately after speaking to them? As for the future.......like with all airlines it's a crap shoot. AWAC is one of the best regional airlines to work for right now as far as working conditions and equipment are concerned. The major drawback is that they are solely feeding UAL.

Yes they are hiring. A pal of mine is interviewing this Tuesday with them. We both work at a 91 outfit, and he has close to 1200 hours. We fly turboprops though. That might be it... dunno.

AWAC is an excellent company.

I was hired a few months ago and the training was excellent. From start to finish, training lasted 7-weeks. Two weeks in Appleton, WI, then five weeks in Denver for the CL-65. (two weeks systems, one week CPT, two weeks simulators/checkrides). IOE took two weeks.

As far as hiring, once again, many rumors stating yes and no. I know someone who recieved a call a few weeks ago, not sure when/if they interviewed yet.

Apply, interview and get hired so my seniority number quickly rises!

Puke Dog, you probably want to check your sources on that one. If you check closely, you'll notice that Air Wisconsin just closed their CRJ base in Denver. Moved everything to D.C. Wish it was true but I seriously question your source.

hmm, I heard from someone in the training dept 3 days ago that all the check airmen are returning to the line in Nov, after they finish up those that are in class now, and hiring is over except for a possible pool.
anyway, that's what I heard.

There is absolutely no way AWAC would reopen the Denver CRJ base. There would have to be a "fundamental long term" change in express carriers in denver for them to reopen it. Management would pass on oppurtunity, unless it was utterly silly not to. They are very averse to risk; I would be shocked if it reopened. Although, with that said and the state of flux in this industry, it will probably happen tomarrow. Highly unlikely.

Yes, we are going to go from 5 RJ flights a day in DEN up to 6.
The company has continuously said they are "looking" at bigger RJ's.
But then again, SWA said they were "looking" at RJs as well.

As of late July they said they were planning on interviewing through the end of the year. They also said they were closing up Denver to focus on East Coast ops. I was called with 1100/400. It was my first interview, and I probably scared them off with my foaming at the mouth for the chance to fly for them. Good Luck.

I really don't like to get caught up in rumors, but i've heard something similar to what you are talking about. I heard that United is pretty dissapointed with Mesa's performance out of DEN and that AWAC may be making a comeback in DEN.

Rumors.... gotta love 'em!

Mesa's already been booted out of DEN to IAD. If Mesa can't get it right in DEN, they can't get it right anywhere. Maybe UAL will kick Mesa out once they emerge from bankruptcy? One can only hope! DEN will likely be all SkyWest, all the time.

Correct MESA has been pulled from DEN due to poor performance amoungst other things. Rumors (and from friends in UAL management) is that UAL have put MESA on a 60 day "shape up or ship out" notice. Their recent on time & completion has been so low it's unreal.

Lets hope that they will soon be gone!!

Your time and experience is right in line with many of the pilots in the last new hire class. Keep updating. As of a few weeks ago AWAC was still bringing pilots in for interviews. Good luck.
