Before anyone says the routes are ones now covered by Astar or ABX, we need to know where they will be operating to. I am confused as to the wording in the release. The first breath says:

The agreement covers two 767-200 freighter aircraft that are not among ABX Air's 29 767s already dedicated to DHL service.

Then the second says:

One of them has operated on behalf of DHL for most of 2007 under an agreement that expires at the end of this year.

So is this just a "new" contract for 1 767 and renewal of the second?

The next question is, where will ABX find the crews to support this expansion? All of its upcoming 767 training is for KIX or Miami charters.

ABX has been operating one 767 for DHL to Houston (I think) outside of the ACMI. It was a separate charter at higher than ACMI rates. That charter was set to expire at the end of the year. That flight will now become part of the ACMI contract at normal ACMI rates.

One additional 767 is entering the ACMI agreement and will fly BOS, night and day. Two more additional 767s are in the works for SJU and JFK but are not finalized at this point.

The DC9s are also picking up an MSP (possibly day and night), PIT and two to BWI. Not sure when these will be finanlized but have seen extra sections to MSP in the computer.

"Crews? We don't need any crews. We'll just junior man some more!"

Great. So ABX is providing new aircraft to DHL while Astar is selling theirs off.

Amazing, simply amazing. How does a publically traded company not protect themselves from something like this happening? This should thoroughly embarrass management.

Sorry to tell you Booger, but our E-Team has the "embarrassed" market cornered but they don't know it yet.

What happened??? Did abx mechanics not do a prebuy on it?

They did. Rumor and I emphasize rumor, has it that the airplane was not as inspected when they went to pick it up. Rumor also has it that for political reasons the decision was made to go through with the purchase and then sell the dog, even though this would result in a loss.

ABX Air Inc. has acquired another Boeing 767 freighter from Delta Air Lines and is paying for it with a $15.75 million, 10-year loan from Chase Equipment Leasing Inc., the company said today in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The money will also pay for modifications to the aircraft.

The loan is the seventh such arrangement ABX has made with Chase since August 2006 for acquisitions of 767 aircraft.

Wilmington-based ABX derives more than 90 percent of its revenue from DHL and is seeking to expand its business with other customers.
