Has anybody out there finished off there military career in the IRR getting points only for taking classes? I'm just curious how it all works.

Thanks.

I am not 100% positive, but in order to earn points you have to have a current fitness exam, and be in a program like CAP or ALO.

Many folks enter the IRR status, but I think unless you enter sanctuary you are in a no pay no points status.

I'm currently in the P-IRR and able to retire from it. You need to participate to get a good year towards retirement. There are options with ALO, CAP, or CAT E IMA like me. I work at HQ AETC and get man days for every day I work. The AF doesn't allow good year credit with only school credits. The Navy does.
