As long as they keep flying! I need the job!

Every little bit helps -- and none of us is perfect. I think the big issue is do the people just do it or do they preach to you about how "efficient" they are and tell you what you should do.

We try to be efficient, have just installed some solar panels which provide 1/3 of the electricity for our home. Not looking for any praise, but figure I can do my part in my way and don't tell any one else what "they should do".

What is ironic is the ones who judge you or preach to be more energy efficient and then are not.

Fly safe.

P.S. - I will be purchasing the carbon offsets NJ is now offering. Every little bit helps. No --- I am not an idealist and will not give up my private flights, but will try to minimize their impact.

Something I would like to see at NJs, anytime we have a 1-2 hour slide, we shut the plane down until the pax calls inrange (15 minutes out).

That is a great idea. As a matter of course, I usually call the FBO and ask them to update the pilots with my show information. This way, if I am at the end of my slide (or later), you can safely finish lunch, etc. I wouldn't like to be sitting "on call" for 1 1/2 hours if the passenger knows he is going to be late. I have gotten many "thank yous" for this call. I jjust did it out of courtesy, but like the energy efficiency issue too (which would also mean lower costs).

We appreciate that greatly. I've flown a gentleman out of Florida several times who consistently does that, and it works well for all of us. We can be there and ready for him, and "primed" to roll as soon as he gets here.

Without any specific arrival time, I may be leaving the APU running for hours, which wastes fuel, and wears that expensive APU unnecessarily. (The Excel APU burns about 17 gallons an hour with the electrical and air going, for example.)

The coolest thing about "the guy with the accent" getting elected is that now his security escort always tells us when he's 15 out. No more worrying about the noise police at SMO watching the clock while you're on the standard two hour slide....

This is more useful than you may realize, and greatly appreciated.
