Just got back from a trip to Ireland a couple of weeks ago, and what a blast we had. A few of us non reved to London and then bought tickets on Ryan Air for cheap to Dublin. There we rented a car and took five days to drive around the southern half of Ireland seeing as many sights as we could. Although driving over there is a little different to say the least, we were able to see more than our fare share of castles, pubs, towns, and of course the Jameson distillery and Guiness brewery. It worked out great due to the fact that it was a low tourist time of year, and we had no problem getting into hotels, hostiles, and b & b 's where we went. In fact, we had no actual plans until we pulled the map out and started driving south out of Dublin. Anyways, what a wonderful country and it's extremely easy to get to. The only problem is that the dollar sucks more than a vacuum cleaner over there right now. Anyways, if you go there, have fun and make sure to visit the pubs in each town!

Dublin

I recently flew a (Galaxy) trip to Dublin and had 4 day layover. Stayed at the Conrad Hotel right on St. Stevens Green central Dublin. Very nice hotel!! First thing to do is take a bus tour of Dublin. Cheap... you can get on/off for 24 hours for about 13 bucks. Great narration (informative) by driver. Grafton Street for shopping and pubin'. Arlington Hotel for dinner and Riverdance style show (every night). Hop the train at Houston Station for a 2 hour ride to Kilkenny, a 10th century medevil town with the oldest castle in Ireland and the Smithwicks brewery. Pace yourself. Easy to get hungover and miss a whole day (or two). When touring Jameson Distillery, when they ask for voluteers, fight your way to the front of the line. You get to sample 5-7 different spirits (refer to last sentence). Make sure you learn the words to Sweet Molly Malone, the "tart with the cart/dish with the fish." I could not imaging ANYBODY not having a good time to Ireland. Gorgeous country!! Check this website for culture and lore. Cheers !!
