Which of the "Regionals" (non major) currently use digital flight bags.. iPad, etc?

Expressjet will start this spring.

I just saw the official email from the program manager (from one of the test pilots), and they are still planning on mid to late April for the rollout. It will be a MS Surface 3, to be issued to every pilot. I got to see the Surface 2 in action, and although the screen brightness and color are far inferior to an iPad, it does look like it will be fantastic to use.

You can even sync it to your own separate $150 mobile bluetooth GPS unit if you want, and can see your actual aircraft position on the enroute charts and airport diagrams! (GPS use is "unofficial," "for reference only" etc. etc.) That's a great feature for situational awareness, as it can superimpose distance rings from your aircraft or any given point, so you could see how far from any shoreline you are, for instance. I am really looking forward to ditching the 30 pounds of Jepps!

"mid to late April"- translation: October.

Are you willing to eat those words? I'm amazed at how many people just post negative trash on things they have no clue about!

Weren't you the one who said "May". Which is it, April or May? Might I remind you that it was "6 months" over a year ago.

Why not the iPad? It's proven and reliable...?
Apparently two reasons...first, Microsoft's unit is cheaper; second, the MS unit apparently is more customizable by an IT department. So they can have more control over passwords, preloaded software, maybe even blocking software to keep pilots from watching porn at 370.

I'm with you, though, I would have much preferred the iPad. Side-by-side, the Surface screen looks like it was made by Fisher Price. Still, I'm looking forward to it.

Well, I meant by the start of May. April is scheduled to be the go date. It will take time to get them handed out, etc...so I said May. But, go with October to be safe, if that makes everyone feel better.

The goal is to be employed elsewhere before the rollout date, and with no apps updated to this point I'm still quite confident that will happen.

Everything at this god-forsaken place is always right on the horizon.

Well, I'm guessing you are wrong, but hey, maybe negativity works for most people.
