Intl Per Diem & the Euro!

Anyone else having a problem in Europe with our low per diem rates?

18€ for a pay-per-view movie (not porn!) in the hotel
7€ for a mini-bottle of wine
4€ for a can of coke
24€ for breakfast buffet
24€ for 24 hours of internet access

Either we are getting ripped off on European layovers, or we are getting very poor in the US!

Btw...did anyone see the CNN report on the dollar vs. the euro where they interviewed some lady from the South in Times Square who thought America was replacing the dollar with the euro and to hurry up and call your congressman!?

The rapid decline of educated people in our country worries me, as does the crashing dollar!

1 Dont eat in the hotel.

2 Dont take anything from the mini-fridge, if you do replace it from the nearest store

3 Only eat breakfast when its free

4 Work for a company that provides internet access

5 Coke costing more than beer...its their way of telling you to drink more beer

I can tell you that living overseas now and being paid in the US dollar absolutely sucks. Each month I make less and less.

Most of my co workers are Aussies and I have been told that they made more money a few years ago when they were FOs than they do now as Captains thanks to the dollars slide.

What I wouldnt give to be paid in Euros......
