I'm not sure which site either this one or the other, but I remember someone saying thier friend was interviewed at Rep with less than the required time, and was hired based on that person getting the time. Is there any truth to this? Can someone get an interview with a few hundred less, then get hired based on them reaching the 1500? If that is the case, my second question is can you get interviewed now, with the upfront discussion to HR that you would be unable to accept a class date prior to say, May/June or whatever, due to the fact that I'm currently under a verbal contract through then?

Basically I'd like to avoid recurrent around June/Jul at my current job because that would sign me up for another few months at least. And I'd hate to say no to recurrent, not be able to fly, only then to start interviewing. I'd like to try to have my ducks lined up so I'm not missing too many pay checks. If possible, I'd try to interview now, but call HR ahead of time and discuss that situation. Any thoughts...besides "Stay away from the regionals". Thanks!

Hey man. The spring is pretty far away and I think even airlines know that their hiring plans may change drasticly in the next 6 months. But that aside, I dont think they'd look down upon it. I have done what you did, twice actually. First I interviewed for a smaller regional when I was still a senior in college and couldn't start till graduation a few months away. That worked out in the end. Then when I wanted to leave that small regional for a bigger better regional I interviewed when I still had 2 months left on my contract, I told them about that and they were perfectly cool with it. Got a class date 10 days after the contract was up. Its all on how you handle/present the situation I guess. But 6 months or more is a bit far, in my opinion. When airlines interivew you they have specific class dates in mind that they'd like to fill, and when you cant fit into them, you kind of get pushed to the side. So If I were you I'd apply so to be interviewing no more than 2-3 months away from when you can start, max. Oh, and about your first question, I dont think I'd try to get an interview with below the 1500 mark at Rep. Just be patient and wait till you have the #'s. You can try If you really like the compnay, for sure. I only say that because it might take forever for them to call you if you dont have the time. Good luck bro.

When I interviewed last May, Linda in HR was very clear on the fact that if your resume doesn't have 1500TT and 300multi it goes directly into the trash.
She said she threw away around 100 resumes a day.
