Possible new airline service

Emirates Airlines as of 2008 was in the process of negotiating a deal with the city of Phoenix that could possibly bring service from Phoenix to Dubai by 2009 or 2010.[9].
Lufthansa has stated reopening its route to Phoenix is on the agenda. The city is also in discussions with the airline about reopening the route.[10][5]
US Airways is planning on starting new service from Phoenix to Tokyo starting in 2012 using an Airbus A330-200. [11]
US Airways is also planning on starting new service from Phoenix to Frankfurt and London when they receive more Airbus A330-200 aircraft, around the year 2011.
US Airways announces service for the 2012-2013 timeframe for vacationers headed to the beach on the Sea of Tranquility. They will be presently purchasing the necessary vehicles for this service, and expect DOT approval before the end of 2009.

Whos idiotic idea was this?

Is Ed Beauvais back?

At least the FA's will love the flights, with the load factors being around 5%.

What a joke. 2-3 years is an eternity in the airline industry. The clowns in US Air mgt can barely manage a week ahead let alone that far ahead, plus we still don't know what the economy will look like.

well they will probably get the route authority and then delay it indefinitely due to 'market forces.' Just like the China route.

Wikipedia huh?

Because if you want the most accurate reliable information on the internet it doesn't get much better than that!

There are supporting references for the first two routes. The Sea of Tranquility thing however might be a little harder to find a source for... :)
