I'm wanting to get a newer car here before long. The jeep I have now is kinda of the family junk car and my dad takes care of the insurance. Anyone have any idea what insurance would be for a 23 yr male? Ive had a couple tickets but they were 5 years ago and have had no wrecks. Im planning on getting something sporty around $20k used. I'm trying to get a rough idea what insurance will run. If anyone has any numbers I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

JJ

23 yrs old buying something sporty?

eh...youre screwed.!

No really, it all depends where you live (state AND county) how old you are, driving history, car type, marraige status...etc. Live in or near (20 miles) of a city? youre dead as the theft rate kills your rates...

too many variables for anyone to give you an idea.

As an example: I paid more that 2000/yr when I was 25 to insure my only car (a sports car). Now hitting close to 30 with 3 cars - I am down to something like 1200/yr. All this is attributed to age, spotless driving record (by luck, I speed...bad) but most importantly...I live in the sticks and am married...big huge difference.

Be sure to call around. I cut my rates 40% by shopping around. Get the discounts for safe driver, factory alarms, side curtain airbags, onstar, etc..etc..also be sure to say you are a pilot and only drive to work once a week. I get discounts for that too.

Defintily go for reputable companies that pay claims without too many questions. Get full glass with no deductible. I have used it FOUR times (including once when I chipped a golf ball through my window-??) One windshield was on a pricier car we owned and the windshield would have been 900$. ouch.

Also if you have any assets (house, investments) get A LOT of insurance and consider an "umbrella" policy on everything (house car boat) for a few million. Its cheap insurance..and peace of mind.
