I was wondering if anyone could point me to some good CFIs (going for my private) based out of AUS or GTU.

Me?

But seriously, stop by alliance flight services at Austin Bergstrom International. We're located on general aviation avenue, upstairs in the trajen building.

We have 4 172's, a 152, 3 PA28's, a 182RG, a Baron, and a Grumann Cougar, and would be happy to help you earn your private. Stop buy from 10-6 Monday throuth saturday or 10-5 on sunday and take a look at the planes and the facilities.

Also, check out our website at www.allianceflight.com

Yep, 4951A technically belongs to the University Flying Club, which is managed by alliance. 67796 is our primary C152. The website could use an update, we've acquired several more airplanes since it was originally posted.

Alchemy,

I was at Alliance last week inquiring about picking up my flight training again. I heard something about reserving a training block online at their website but haven't found anything like that on their site. Is this done through the "contact us" link or is it a feature Alliance is looking at adding? Appreciate the feedback and think it's great they have a contact on this forum.

Dammit - I'm working on it! So little time. But yes, it'll be updated soon. :D

You might want to mention that you do maintenance on little airplanes.

Cap Wings won't work on piston singles anymore, you guys are onto a gold mine if you can handle the business.

Coffee357:

Are you trying to schedule a flight, or make a "block payment"?

If you're trying to schedule a flight, you will need a username and a password. If you don't already have one, give the office a call during business hours and we will set you up. Once you have those, you can log onto the online scheduling system by going to http://www.allianceflight.com and then clicking on the "log on to alliance flight online" text just below the company logo. From there you will be prompted to enter your username and password and taken into the online scheduling system.

If you wish to make a block payment, just call the office during business hours and we'll be more than happy to set you up via credit card. Otherwise, drop off a check in person and you'll be good to go.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with!

Alchemy,

Thanks! Guess I didn't phrase that quite right. What I meant was scheduling training flights. Still putting some money together but should be dropping off some money in the next few weeks. Probaby going to work on my flying "account" first and then follow up with the actual flying when I've got enough to fly for a while without waiting for another paycheck. Appreciate the info on the website!

Site is still not updated... Im north but looking for a few places around the area to rent from. Can I rent from you guys or is this strictly for training. Also, anyone flying in the Austin area, stay away from Horshoe Bay... complete bunch of stuck up a$$es over there...

Im wondering the same thing. I know that GTU has a bunch of places to rent from, but I dont know if any are good or bad. I do know that GTU is extremely busy for a non towered airport.

Yes, we welcome renters too. We have the usual 3 hr minimum flt time for every 24 hr period you rent the airplane, paved runways only, other than that, have at it.

The fleet currently stands at:

4 Cessna 172's (1969, 1978, 1980, and 1983 models respectively) $85/hr

1 Cessna 152 (Sparrowhawk) $65/hr

1 Cessna 182RG (1978, HSI, GPS, DME, 140+ Knots) $135/hr

1 Cherokee Warrior (Mx for at least one month due to engine overhaul) $85/hr

1 Cherokee 180 (1969, new interior, nice avionics) $85/hr

1 Grumman Cougar (1978) $160/hr

1 Beech Baron A55 (1963) $230/hr

They're all different...

N2087E: 1978 C172N, Dual Cessna Nav Comms w/ Glideslope

N46AG: 1983 C172P, Dual Cessna Nav Comms w/ Glideslope, VFR only GPS, long range (50 Gal) tanks

N63AM: 1980 C172N Dual Bendix-King Nav Comms w/ Glideslope, DME, ADF

N7912G: 1969 C172L, 180HP, Garmin IFR approved GPS/com (300XL I think), Bendix KNS 80, Glideslope

Assuming you're on top of things and have no problems with the class C, a checkout shouldn't take more than 2 hrs, tops.

Hobbs time for C172 checkouts probably average 1.0-1.5. We'll takeoff from austin, go to taylor, lockhart, or san marcos, fly the pattern, do a touch and go, then come back. Studying the frequencies for KAUS beforehand and reviewing towered airport communications (if that's not something you do often) will save you time and money.
