Anyone have an idea on a rough cost to have a vacuum system installed in an aircraft? Looking at a possible acquisition and the price seems to be decent (allowing for much needed avionics upgrades), but depending on the cost, the lack of a vacuum system might be a show stopper.

Do not quote me on this, as I am not by any stretch of the imagination an A&P, but I think it all depends on whether or not a vacuum pump can be installed on your engine.

There is no way to answer the question unless you have the specific make and model of aircraft and engine.

When you have that, use the F.A.A. website to see what S.T.C.s are availiable for that combination and contact the company that holds the S.T.C. When talking to them, ask the cost of the S.T.C. and how many man hours are estimated for the installation.
