I'm currently looking for a flight school to build some multi time and to obtain my commercial multi license. Does anyone know of any good schools in the MI, OH, IN, or IL. area? I've been looking into Ari Ben Aviators in FL (50 hours in a duchess and comm. multi for ~7k) which doesn't sound too bad. But if anyone knows of anything here in the midwest I'd appreciate it.

Check us out at www.midwayaviators.com. Click on the time building link. We offer flight training in a twin commanche @ $160 per hour plus $40 for the instructor. Our time building rates range from $70 per hour to as low as $62.50 per hour depending on the amount of time you purchase (we have 10, 25, 50 and 100 hour programs).

Check us out

We have recently set up a package for our Multi Training whether it be for the private or for your Commercial. Its a Steal for great training and includes the books, some sim time as well as your check ride fee!!

We use a Beech Duchess BE-76 and have the availability to get you done in no time at all!!!

Tradewinds Aviation....Oakland County International Airport (Waterford, MI)

Tony Bracci is a great guy, and if you're anywhere close to the Detroit area, go see him. He was the Chief Flight Instructor where I work. When you see him, tell him that everyone at Lafayette Aviation says hello.

Low and Fast,

Great minds think must think alike. When I saw the title of this thread Tradewinds was the first school to come to mind. I trained with them for my private ticket. Started in the winter of 1991 and finished in the summer of 1992. Man, it seems like just yesterday I was planning a VFR x-country to MBS on a cold winter day. Is N911TA still in the fleet? It was the first airplane I ever flew.

I want to second this as a great place to fly. Although it has been 12 years since I went there, here is what is was like (and probably still is). Very professional staff. The airplanes were very clean and most important, very, very well maintained. The hangar floor was so clean you could eat your lunch off of it. Excellent training facilities too, you never did your pre and post flight briefings at a knarly table in front of a vending machine.

Also, KPTK is a great environment to fly in. If you can handle that, there isn't much out there that will give you a hassle.

I did my multi-inst-comm add-on there at Ari Ben and i'd recommend it. It only cost me 9000 total, that includes my 100 hours, my multi-inst-comm add on rating, checkride fee and cost of living expenses including housing. Their duchess' are in pretty good shape and the maintenance is top notch compared to some other places i've seen. I'd definately recommend it.

Heard a horror story about Ari-Ben and the equipment they fly down there. Enough for me to have no interest in even checking it out for myself. If you want details send a PM. There are probably people like doubleo that have an ok time there but the story i heard was enough for me to lose interest.
