Does anybody have a link of where all of these infantry divisions are from?

I keep hearing in news stories about the 4th ID and such but I am curious as to where these men and women are based.

Thanks for you service to all the men and women who haved served or currently are serving this country.

4th Inf Div

4th ID - Fort Hood, Texas ...

"Everyone goes home, the blessed go home to Texas!"

God Bless'Em

TransMach

1st Marine Division: Camp Pendleton, CA
2nd Marine Division: Camp Lejeune, NC
3rd Marine Division: Okinawa, Japan

25th Light Infantry: I believe that is in Hawaii.

Not sure about the rest.

Of the heavy Mech units ...

The 4th Infantry moved from Fort Carson to Killeen (took over the old 2nd Armored OA during the last big reshuffle and is now kicking ass in Northern Iraq.

The 3rd Infantry moved from Bayern Germany (Wurzburg, Schweinfurt, Kitzingen) back stateside to Savannah (Fort Stewart), and has kicked MUCH ass from day one in Iraq.

There are some units from the 1st Cav in Iraq as well, but I don't know who. Hopefully the 1-5 Cav is 'getting some' :D.

I was at Stewart when the 24ID reflagged as 3ID. When did 4ID move to Hood and did 2AD draw down? When did 3ACR move to Carson and are any other units there? Is 3AD still in Germany?

Here are the 10 divisions left on active duty in the Army & their home station. A division consists of 3 combat brigades, 1 aviation brigade & various support units.
1st Armored - Germany (1 brigade is at Ft Riley KS)
1st Infantry - Germany (1 brigade is at Ft Riley KS)
2nd Infantry - Korea (1 brigade is at Ft Lewis WA)
3rd Infantry - Ft Stewart GA (1 brigade is at Ft Benning GA)
4th Infantry - Ft Hood TX (1 brigade is at FT Carson CO)
1st Cavalry - Ft Hood TX
10th Mountain - FT Drum NY (does not have a 3rd brigade)
25th Infantry - Hawaii (1 brigade is at FT Lewis WA)
82nd Airborne - Ft Bragg NC
101st Airborne (Airmobile) - FT Campbell KY

In addition to the divisions the army has 4 brigade size
units available for combat. They are:
172nd Infantry - Alaska
173rd Airborne - Italy
2nd Armored Cavalry - FT Polk LA
3rd Armored Cavalry - FT Carson CO

The 4th ID moved to Hood in 1996, iirc, when the 2nd Armored was deactivated :( . I assume they took over the old 2 AD quads and HQ buildings. Wonder if the rice paddy is still there. :D

When I was there in the mid-80s there was a rumor that the former Division Commander of the 2nd AD was either General Pershing III or General Patton the III, who was a former Infantry Lt. in Vietnam. We always heard that he was a little bit cracked after 'Nam and that he dug up the nice new grass behind HQ to put in a rice paddy, and that he'd sit out there in the evenings and watch the sun go down behind his paddy. :D
