I know that you get what you pay for but....
I'm looking for a place to get an inexpensive CII type rating.

thanks

Check out www.flightcrewsystems.com . I just got back from the course and I found it to be a good course and most of the training and the checkride are in the airplane. I don't have any experience with an all sim based training right now though I will be attending one next month and can give you a comparison then.

That would be great! I've heard from a few people that Flight Crew Systems does give quality training.

I'm looking for a facility that charges a little less than 5100.
My friend that works for a 135 outfit has a spot for a sic, the only catch is that I have to possibly lay out the money for the initial and than get reimbursed within 3 months.

Does this sound like something that I should take advantage of?

Before you go, make sure your prospective employer's insurance underwriter will accept training in the aircraft...I've been told that most require it to be in a simulator.

Mike Pappas

I went to Professional Airline Systems in 1990 for my Citation type with Mike Pappas. It was a great experience. I understand that others now operate that company and changed the name to www.flightcrewsystems.com but that Mike is still associated with it, perhaps as their examiner. He also re-started his own company as Pacific Airline Systems. Either way, as long as Mike has some connection with your training, you cannot go wrong.

Enjoy Carlsbad!

Flight Crew Systems is owned by Stuart Illian. The training is done for the CE-500 type. Pacific Airline Systems is owned by Mike Pappas and is the CE-525 type. They operate out of the same office and Mike Pappas is the examiner for both checkrides.
They said that they were insurance approved, but in everything, check with your company before you go.
They were able to train me without any prior turbine experience in a week (though they expect you to study the flight manual before arriving) Just make sure you show up with good instrument skills because there isn't extra time alloted to getting instrument proficient.

Thanks everyone for you help. If anyone knows of any other schools; sim or a/c please let me know. I'm just weighing my options.

The less money the better.

Talk with Stel at Chrysler Aviation in VNY. He usually has a good price. It will be a great big fire hose and a very quick course. But it will be a type rating.

BUMP: Update to Aircraft Based CE-500 Type Training

I am planning to get this training done in June. Please respond if you have any updates to good week-long aircraft based initial CE-500/combined ATP programs.
Thanks, Tim
