Now that Fred Buttrell has taken over as president of Comair Inc., the former fighter pilot will have a chance to put the airline's money where his mouth is.

Until Jan. 17, Buttrell was president and CEO of Delta Connection Inc., which manages Delta Air Lines' network of regional carriers. In that job, Buttrell rejected Comair's bid for new jets being doled out to fly for Delta. He said Comair's costs were too high and other airlines could do the job at a lower price.
