in-flight filming

So far I am only in the brainstorming phase of this and I've reached a point that I don't have an answer to. I would like to set up a video camera (sony handycam) to video some of the flights that I do. I have figured out to how to use a tripod and mount the camera behind and between the front two seats (were talking piston singles and light twins here) but I would also like to include audio on the video. Is there a way to run the audio from the audio panel and headsets through the camera? If I'm not describing this very well pls forgive me, respond, and I will word it differently. If you have any suggestions use the KISS (keep it simple stupid) method of description. I'm a flight instructor, not an electrical engineer!
Thanks for helping, I would love to be able to put together a few tapes of exciting instrument approaches or memorable flights for my ground-bound friends to watch!

In this case, it was a friend of mine that I picked up at Eagle and flew to Aspen. He held the camera, so I'm no help on the mounting issue.

I do have one suggestion about audio. You're right. You do need a direct line. Cockpit noise will overcome your camera's external mike (like on that video on my "alternate" website)

There are portable intercoms that have audio out jacks if you have an audio input in the camera or a tape recorder(for later mixing). But I suspect that a headphone "Y" splitter from Radio Shack and an adaptor would do the job for 1/10th the price.

I was planning on doing something like this also, so I'll be very interested in hearing other responses.

Anybody that wants to know how to do it, send me an e-mail and I will forward you some messages I got from someone that mounted a camera in his RV-3 to video his spins. It has sound channel from his speech and the sound channel for engine noise.
