Any cause that enlists the help of Rep. Keith Ellison as seen in the above clip (sworn into congress on the koran and not the Bible) is simply not going to win public support, and in fact may discover a significant backlash.

Do some research on this sh!tbag and you will see what a radical islamic nutball he is (called Bush a nazi), and how unwise it is to align oneself with him. I am ashamed that union leadership would allow themselves to be seen at any kind of function with this a$$hole.

So what? He was featured in maybe 15 seconds out of a nearly 10-minute piece. Who cares? Imagine that: a tool-box member of Congress.

You have any thoughts on what the piece was really about?

Grinstein just turned down a bonus. It's not like he was working for free. I have no problem with a GOOD CEO making a lot of money. If their company does well, then they should be paid for it. Problem is that airline CEOs, at least most of them, have NOT done well. All they have done is rape the workers and creditors, and then they walk away with almost as much money as their company made in profits. That is not right.

I happen to agree wholeheartedly that the crippling greed of many present-day airline execs is wrong, and that those execs are a worthless waste of gravity.

However, I strongly feel that even this perfectly legitimate message will be corrupted in the public's mind, and the message lost, when various causes (in this case, ours) align themselves with radicals such as Ellison. If you do a little research, you will see that his past and present views are far more sinsiter than those of your typical scumbag politician.
In any case, we should be distancing ourselves from his brand of invective, not embracing it.

Get a life. Ellison is standing up for us. Who cares what book he sworn in on as long as he is another person helping our cause.

I don't see any Republicans on this video standing up for Pilot salaries.

cool, I'm sure there are a ton of fringe lunatics who would be happy know they have your support if they support "our cause." The question is, who else are they "standing up" for?

why should government be "standing up" for pilot salaries? last time I checked, this was a capitalist system. If you don't like your salary, you are free to go work somewhere else. If you're counting on the government to ensure you earn what you think you might be entitled to, you may be waiting a while.

If you're counting on the government to ensure you earn what you think you might be entitled to, wake up.

It's not about government helping. I just don't agree with the disproportionate executive compensation. Looks like he agrees with me, so he is ok in my book.

This is old news but a really good piece of journalism.

Bravo Grinstein! Steenland is filth, you make me sick.:puke:

When Grinstein took over he drew a salary of around $300,000 a year, which is a lot less than most CEOs. He also gave his $10 million bonus (for the Chap 11 exit) to a Delta employee fund that helps employees in need and also college scholarships. I don't think Steenland did that. I know Grinstein is rich (from previous mergers in the railroad industry and being in charge of Western Airlines way back when), but he did give away a large chunk of money. You need to research more.

Bye Bye--General Lee

But look at how many pilots are trying to get on with these airlines. There is always someone. I didn't follow.
