Imagine that. A liberal being opposed to something with the name "Independence"... Shocker...

As for Peon-Tone... What's going on with MidAmerica??? Oh yeah, losing money. Why don't they just use light rail/Monorail to ORD and use Peotone for regionals or International. Just a thought. I'm certain they'll build it and wish they hadn't. They are forecasting 10 Million pax year one. Riiiiiiiiiight!

Chicago isn't called the Windy City because of weather, it's all because of our freakin' politicians. I've lived in the area my whole life, nobody will stand up to Chicago Democrats.

I'd agree that a third airport is probably not required right now, but you can only expand O'hare so much. (Why is it when the wx channel puts up their Airport Delay graphic, that O'hare always has a delay, even in good weather?) Comparing a 3rd Chicago Airport to Belleville/Mid America is not entirely correct.....look at the STL market now, it can barely support the one airport....after American pulled a large amount of flights (wich they insured the city of STL they wouldn't do).

The city of Peotone is about 60 minutes from the loop. Thats 20 minutes more than the drive from downtown Denver to their airport. Has anyone absolutely ruled out the idea of having a high speed transportation system from the loop? Anyone ever driven from downtown DC to IAD? With traffic that can take a while!

The area which I'll refer to as south of the southern suburbs is experiencing huge growth. I've heard from some buddys that work construction that there are nearly 300,000 homes planned to be built in the Chanahon and Minooka Area and something like 200,000 around the Wilmington Area. Thats somewhere around 1.5 Million people moving to just those few areas along the I-55 Corridor. All the cities along I-57 are experiencing the same thing.

I think its only a matter of time before there will be the demand for another airport. In addition to another airport, you'll probably see additional use of airports mentioned, like RFD, as the west, and far west, suburbs explode.

Biggest obstacle to it be built, is finding someone to fly there. Who knows, maybe the state will offer some sort of incentives to get someone to fly there if it ends up being built. Maybe someone like JB?

Illinois Dems = Illinois Nazi's......"I hate Illinois Nazi's"

Well, ORD and Chicago could do like a couple of other airports: They expanded. The thought being, that the airport is so important to the community. ORD is a huge part of the Chicago economy and the plans I saw for ORD, with parallel runways and all, made a lot of sense. It would increase capacity and reduce delays.

However, the usual poltical bickering prevents anything from being done.

Daley is against Peotone, because it would be outside his political realm. If you want to have a concession stand at ORD, you are required to be promoting the big "D", the Tribune ran an interesting series of articles about "D" and ORD. Interesting reading to say the least.

Besides, Daley did tear down Meighs in the middle of the night with police escort. The guy is an arsehole, like we really need another frigging park!

Yeah,

I loved how Daley was in support of a new airport in the Calumet City area....now that the state picked a place he would be unable to annex into Chicago, he doesn't want. Maybe he could talk to the idiot governor and work something out....

Like someone said, if the rest of the **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** state could out vote the Chicago area.......

Air Whisky, Skywest, Mesa and assorted other bottom feeders are taking over ACA's ORD flying. The ACA ORD base is scheduled to close 8-1.

IDE uses ORD gate E10. I think that ACA used the F gates as United Express.

The problem with expanding ORD is that the airspace wil only contain a finite number of airplanes. The best answer as I see it is for the majors to start flying higher capacity airliners into ORD and scale back the RJ flying. This would enable them to keep the same capacity with fewer airplanes. Pax are getting tired of flying RJs on long legs anyway, but what do I know?
