The DMV is authorized to give out (sell) your personal information to
anyone: (name, DOB, phone number, address, SS#, medical disabilities,
etc)
with no problem. You can go to the State of Florida web site and block
the
DMV from passing on any of your information.

Go to www.hsmv.state.fl.us and click on ON LINE DRIVER LICENSE CHECK to
verify if your driver's license is valid--once it verifies that your
license
is valid or not it will let you know whether your license is blocked.
It
will give you the opportunity to block it at that time by following the
instructions.

Very simple.

good gouge. they ought to have made that law an opt in vs. an opt out, but it isn't. There seemed to be a ton of exceptions so hopefully airlines requesting your record for the purposes of PRIA are included and are able to gain access when needed.

Same thing for the FAA, I had to send them a letter and opt out of having my address and social security number available to everybody. Now if you look me up it says no address available. I was surprised how much that cut out my junk mail.

No more junk mail

Thank you don like every other floridian I was not aware of this thanks again

Also want to add they do the same thing with your license plates/registration. I remember signing some form to be opted out of that.
In addition, if you live in Orlando, to get public water services you have to provide your big brother SSN which is part of public records. I had to go in person and provide other proof of identity to avoid giving my SSN.
Guess the government isn't getting enough revenue pimping the lottery so they need to pimp your SSN.
What frost me is on "older" SS cards it clearly states not to be used for identification purposes. Now days it is the primary way of identifying yourself. Since there will be more identity theft in the future (thanks to government and big business), the government's solution will probably be to bar code people. Of course, it will only be for our safety........

Many states sell your information from the DMV. Just another revenue source for them.

Firstthird mentioned it should be a law vs. option to opt out of this. I agree completely, especially in this day and age of consumer fraud and identity theft. On the same note, it angrivates me to have to pay my state $5 to block telemarketing calls. Also paying for caller ID with my phone company. Isn't it my "right" to know who is calling me without having to fork over my hard earned cash?

Thanks for the vent!:D

I don't know if the bureau-idiots in Texas are selling info, but they did pass a law requiring disclosure of your SSN/Tax ID no/mark of the beast, etc. when getting a drivers license. No getting around it legally, I've tried - it's a state law. When will people start caring about this Orwellian garbage?

I am sure glad that they have now a way to remove your name from there list. I sent them a letter 2 years ago to not sell my information. They did it. But I hate to be sending mail out. So this is great that they have made it easier.

I wish others would do the same.
