UPS has told the IPA that there will be NO preferential hiring/interview program for Astar/ABX pilots. UPS' existing hiring pool is deep enough to cover the handful of pilots that will be hired as the result of getting the DHL flying (20 new pilots). Wish I had better news for you but it looks like no off the street hiring for UPS.

Really? Who did you talk to? and when? I called one of my friends over there just two days ago and was told that the company hasn't said anything about preferential interviews, in other words neither a yes nor a no. Also, they still have no idea how many, if any, will be hired as the contract hasn't been signed by the two parties yet.

Astar, Abx folks plz hang in there, lots of IPA'ers are trying to talk the company into letting y'all interview first.

By the way, no one seems to know N. Black here, at least on the airline side. I'm sure what he said was just a 'standard' briefing response, in other words "we don't know yet..."
